When you have fitted an upgraded 5.8Ghz antenna do you fit a ground plane under the SMA connector. Antennas fitted without a ground place are likely to be inefficient.
A small alloy plate under the the SMA may give more range.

Yes it does but it does look like there's a backup battery on the PCB right near the edge of the PCB. Large round component.
