Did the GoPro have the wireless turned on ? Most flyaways I've read about, usually point towards the GoPro wireless "talking over" the controller frequency of the Phantom.
I have 9" carbon fiber blades and Vision prop guards on mine. I had to adjust gains but it flies great. I've read several posts of FC40s putting on larger blades with positive results.
I've had my FC40 for a few weeks but I'm already wanting to upgrade to a P2V. The FC40 camera is good, but the pictures kind of seems washed out and slightly grainy. I'm not too crazy about going to the GoPro because it seems like every flyaway has a GoPro attached to it.

Go to this website and get the assistant software. You have to enable the Home Lock and Course lock in the software. Make sure you install the drivers while the FC40 is plugged in. You need to read the manual before flying it.

It sounds like it will be easier for me to just adjust than adjust the Phantom. I definitely don't want to go reversing the controls. The beeping sounds like a good idea as long as it keeps beeping if I crash it in the woods
Is there any way, besides resoldering wires, to change the DJI fuselage indicators so that red is in the back and green is in the front ? I painted my prop guards bright red and put them in the back because I associate the red with tail lights like a car. If not, I'll just use the prop guards...
I bought the 9" carbon fiber blades for mine and Phantom 2 prop guards. No problems here. I didn't adjust the gains at all, didn't notice a need. I think I gained around ~1.5 minutes more flight time.
I am still new to the DJI world and learned you calibrate the TX remotely when the FC40 is plugged in. I had to upgrade the firmware on my FC40 but my TX was up to date. Thanks for the replies! :)
The manual shows the microUSB port on the outside of the TX, however mine is on the inside so you have to take the TX apart to upgrade the firmware. I've seen a few posts on the RC forums and YouTube videos with them on the inside, plus some of the RC vendors are starting to put a product note...
I have a Nano QX that I've been flying inside and outside when the wind is a few kts to help me get nimble on the controls. 5 kt winds can make it challenging with a Nano QX
I think the FC40 fits my budget and skill level and would be a good entry level quad and for beginner aerial...
That is a nice video. It would have been costly to you..but I was hoping the birds would have made a dash for the drone, lol. There is a funny video out that a guy made when some horses he spooked found his drone after he lost sight of it and told it to land. The problem is it landed in the...
Even though I spent 20 years flying on the KC-10, I've never flown RCs
I'm thinking about the DJI Phantom 2 Vision , there are some good used ones on eBay. I use my Canon SLR camera for regular photography and I've been going back and forth on the Vision 2 or get a non-vision Phantom...
