I'm having this same problem too but my "Overall status" section doesn't show any updates required. The problem started right after I did the firmware update, now my controller has the light blinking red/green and the video is poor. I suspect the controller is out of sync with the aircraft...
Thank you so much for the prompt replies. Those two bursts of speed are what cause the skip/click sound but only with the props off. I'm going to assume it's normal for a P4 even though my P3 doesn't make the same sound with the props off. If any of you have a chance to try without the props...
Maybe click was the wrong term. It's almost like a skip and it happens after the motors have started turning. I'll post a video of it as soon as the firmware update completes.
Hi, I just picked up my P4 today and was doing the preflight motor test (no props on) and heard what sounded like two clicks from the motors right after they started up. They seemed to be fine otherwise. My P3S doesn't do this so I was wondering if it was normal for the P4. Thanks in advance.
Well I'm sorry to report that although the update process was smooth, I've now had some time to fly and it appears I have the short range issue too. I've sent DJI support an email asking if there's a fix coming and when. If I don't get a satisfactory response, this thing is going back to the...
And the arms race begins. It won't be long before the proprietary technology becomes public or it falls into the hands of others besides the intended customers. Once it's public, drone manufacturers or, more likely, sophisticated users will engineer defensive measures against it. Stronger...
I was a little gun shy about upgrading given all of the problems others have reported but it worked fine for me. I just did it right from the DJI Go app... No fussing with copying files to the SD card, etc. Here's the exact process I followed:
1. Batteries fully charged.
2. Power on RC...
This ^. You'll probably also find them to be thankful that you're being a responsible hobbyist by contacting them. I was the first person to ever do so with the airport near me and they were quite appreciative.
Used a label maker with 1/2" tape and put my AMA and FAA numbers in a table format sticker, attached to the underside of the shell. The number just has to be readable upon "close inspection" so it doesn't need to be huge.
I live within the 5 mile radius of an airport also. I got in touch with the operations supervisor who gave me a direct number for the tower. I was the first person to ever call and ask about flying a drone and they seemed very appreciative that I did. They have my name and relevant info on a...
How come there is no way to navigate to this page from the FAA site? If there is, I haven't stumbled across it yet. Even a search of the site doesn't find it. How do we know it's legit?
