Seeing all the mysterious Phantom falls from the sky, I've started adding duct tape, pulled tight under tension to secure the P4 battery after making sure it's clicked securely in place. Pre-stretching the tape ensures the battery is held very securely in its slot. No problems so far...

Hi
I am going to be using various DJI drones for search and rescue in the UK, so speed of response is important. I know that keeping LiPos at full charge shortens their life, but also I need to deploy quickly without waiting forever to get up to full charge. Does anyone have any reliable info (...
Does anyone know why DJI allows batteries to shut down while still in the air- I can see the battery protection requirement, but from a safety point of view wouldn't it be better to allow the battery to give its last few volts if the drone is above a set height ( a couple of feet?) to prevent a...
My mat is just over 1m in diameter and the steel ring is 5mm deep. It clearly affects a compass as you approach the ring area, but has little deflection in the centre. It makes me think that if you take off or land anyway but vertical, the IMU will suddenly disagree with the drone's compasses...
Hope it gets found.
This looks like a good reason to always fly VLOS, then if you lose GPS, you just fly back visually.
I sometimes practise this by taking the drone a few hundred metres away, switching to ATTI and spin it on its axis so I don't know its orientation. You can quickly work...
I don't think that this issue has been raised before, but apologies if I am repeating a topic..
The landing mat I use, like most on the market is the 'pop up' type that has a steel band around the rim. That got me thinking about the interference with the drone's compass from this large steel...
I would fly long range, apart from it being really stupid and illegal. Once beyond VLOS you are a menace to other air users and can no longer justify being called a pilot- someone who puts safety first as a basis for being a responsible operator of an aircraft.
I've started securing the battery with duct tape after making sure it's securely clicked in place. I stretch the tape hard as I stick it down to give pre-tension. It seems to hold it very snuggly in place no matter how hard I try to dislodge it. Thoughts anyone?
Much of the problem is self inflicted! YouTube is awash with examples of drone stupidity - flying miles away, over people, or dangerously high. Unless the drone community self regulates and shuns the idiot pilots, governments will have to legislate to protect citizens and other air users...
But still you fly low over people and property with a potentially unserviceable aircraft! Perhaps the waving trees and rippling flag (57 sec) may be a clue.
