Filming on Oahu, Hilo flight restriction

Try auto take off and see if that works. When I talked to DJI Tech Service one time they told me what I had been doing was correct - auto take off would bypass the no flight restriction manual takeoff. I'm in an area where only 1,400-4,200 feet is controlled Class C airspace. So as a part 107...

Filming on Oahu, Hilo flight restriction

Are you a part 107 pilot? If so, Don't use the B4UFLY app. That's for recreational pilots / those operating under a Section 333 exemption. The 5-mile radius and those notifications do not matter. Only uncontrolled vs. controlled airspace. Check out a sectional chart for the area, I see lots of...

    Litchi

gottcha, I'm not going to risk losing my FAA certification or having it come down and possibly injuring someone. There are some informative posts in here though. If I was going to fly long distance and clearly violate the airspace in an unsafe manner, I wouldn't post a video of it on here...

    Litchi

In reference to the 2 videos above, how are folks meeting the FAA visual line of sight requirement with Litchi? One cannot operate from a moving vehicle in a congested area without a waiver. Are you folks openly snubbing the FAA regs? Not marking your drones with registration numbers? Maybe...

    Part 107 test today

There is no fee for the background check. I think they should auto clear us too if we have Global Entry - that requires an interview with customs and background check. So lump us in there with part 61 pilots.

    Part 107 test today

That is good info, I will bring one with me in two years. Glad to help out.

    Part 107 test today

Yeah, not surprised since they have a pool of questions to pick from. I wish I had METAR questions, I knew them inside out since weather is my thing.

    Part 107 test today

Keep in mind they have a pool of questions to pull from so your test could be a little different. Yeah, study all those things you mentioned. I didn't have much radio communications on mine. TAF, flying requirements for drones, stable air, yeah saw questions on those. I went in, signed up...

    Part 107 Costs?

Should only be $150 for the test and that's it.

    Part 107 test today

I took the FAA test today at a local aviation facility. 60 questions and it was hard but I passed. Learn those airspace classes inside & out and how to read sectional charts. Not one question on METARs but yours might have them. Good luck.

Just lost my P4 this evening.

I think a lot of folks learned something from your flight and I do appreciate you sharing the experience - even if you did take some knocks there from others. I'm studying for the FAA drone test on Monday and after all the info I've read this past month about line of sight, interrupted signals...

    Gimbal roll and Horizon level

When I do an IMU calibration I use a 9 inch professional metal bubble level across the top of the landing skids behind the camera (but not touching it) & two smaller 3 inch ones across the top of 9 inch at 90 degrees. So I have level in 2 different directions. I suppose you could just get a...

    Phantom 4 Multibattery Charger (4-in-1)

I've had mine for about 2 weeks, works fine. Has a fan in it that kicks in when you hook up a battery. That's a good sign as heat buildup is the enemy of electronics. I have mine plugged in to the AC wall socket all the time, seems to kick in or at least the fan does when I connect a battery...

    Near collision with military hellicopter

I've used FightRadar 24 premium - it's pretty good put sometimes doesn't show aircraft that are there. Sometimes it doesn't show their correct position either especially when landing.

    Near collision with military hellicopter

I've included a cut out from the Los Angeles Sectional Chart. If you're taking the FAA test this month, you'll need to know how to read them. Ok, back to the posters original question - I see a box that includes part of Newport Beach (not sure exactly where you were flying but . ..) It says...
