I hadn't touched my 4k in months, charged up, did the upgrade, failed at 6%, then failed again at 93%....at that point I couldn't get the remote to stay linked to the drone - had to leave the house and get out of my wifi saturated neighborhood...still took me a couple hours to get it...

I updated today and had a hell of a time. Lost link to my remote and I actually had to leave home and get away from the wifi dense neighborhood I live in to finish it...DJI should really give the option of flashing the P3S/4K outside of the **** app.... :D

The Phantom 3 4K is it's own model....

I was using an ipad air 2 - switched to a Shield K1 ($199) and haven't looked back...I have to agree with the sentiment of cheaping out on the tablet - I wouldn't trust my expensive (and by expensive I mean anything $500 and over) toys with a $50 tablet...I get budget but if you're going to...

No problems getting through customs in any? I'm heading to Kenya, Zanzibar, Somalia, and Dubai in a few weeks and my work is debating buying me a Mavic before we go.... :D

I generally keep mine to 15 minute increments - mostly to save on stress factor. I have five batteries and since I fly solely for fun I generally will use them all up in a single outing...

The drone has it's own GPS built in. GPS in tablet is used for follow me and if you move locations and need to reset return to home. I use an Air 2 (wifi only model) and there is no GPS built into the tablet itself.

I use an Air 2 with a matte anti-glare screen protector and a hood and it's perfect for both my P34K and (newly acquired) P3A....if I had to get a secondary tablet I probably wouldn't buy a another air tho (maybe a used shield).....

Absolutely! :) I'll let people who have been using litchi more than I have answer that question - I'm just getting started with it myself but I hope to have a lot more experience with it after this weekend. :) Happy flying!

^. This. OP and I started the exact same way. I just modded my controller and bought litchi myself.

I'd be interested to hear as well because I may be taking some trips to Tanzania and Zanzibar. Wondering if I should just buy one to keep over there since those trips will be quarterly....

Yeah. Dense is bad for range. :( That one isn't going to work for the 4K. I'd highly recommend going with the one I linked. Either from max uav or dbs or wherever. It should specifically name your model in the mod.
