I am so jealous of the beautiful place you flew. Your video is terrific. Out here in Calif they seem to be saying no at all the parks, local, state and federal.

Props don't fit but that is OK because I can make sure they are tight and examine them for nicks or problems.
To answer your other question. I also have a Nexus 7 ll and am running 2.6.0 for DJI Go.
My Nexus is running 6.0.1 and no problems connecting or flying so far.
My recording from the Nexus has artifacts too because of the video feed.
The recorded video straight from the card is direct from the camera so is much better.
I have compared the two and if the video recorded on my Nexus was the best the quad could do it would be pretty bad.
Having said that...
why don't you remove the sd card and load it into your computer?
I know the video recorded on my Nexus 7 is pretty poor when compared to the video recorded on the sd card.
I have seen this video and it says when the aircraft is directly overhead "the signal is weaker then in normal cases due to the orientation of the craft's receiving antenna. We do not recommend flying directly above the remote controller."
Pointing the transmitter antenna correctly will work until the quad is directly overhead. Then the antenna of the QUAD is pointed straight up
and no matter how you point the transmitter the signal will be weak.
