The Official "My P4 Range Is Too Short" Thread - Don't Start New Range Threads!

So I decided to do some testing. I went out to open farmland. See below: Bone Stock P4 @ 400 feet elevation: 7200ish started to get signal issues. Pushed it to 8473 and it started dropping out pretty bad. P4 with windsurders @ 400 feet elevation: Same signal issues at 7700. Really started...

I always have it on Auto. Terrible idea? I haven't adjusted video setting but I think it's on the max, which shows 4 mbps (1.88) miles. Also terrible idea? Video feed cuts in and out every now and then, but how does the mbps video feed effect the RC signal? Sorry for my inexperience.

Yea, I honestly don't know what to think either. Here's my case though: I'm completely new to drones and anything long distance. I went into an open field today with farmland below, and at 414 feet up with clear LOS, my bird loses connection at 3300 feet. After about 1500 feet, it probably...

I was on auto, and the antenna we're straight up, probably at a 45 degree angle towards the bird. I've never tried messing with the RC channels.

I just decided to get in a quick flight after the rain and flew around the local high school. I got 1478 feet and it lost signal. It initiated the RTH function. I had clear LOS too. Ill have to do some more testing but that is extremely short in my book.

Cooling fan on all the time?

Thanks. It hasn't been hot in my place but I'll try it once it cool downs.

Cooling fan on all the time?

Silly question folks. I exchanged my P4 for another P4 at Apple due to the gimbal making a little screech noise when I'm moving the drone around. Unfortunately, the gimbal still makes a noise. But, when I turn my P4 on, no matter what, there is a fan on underneath the body that's always on. I...

Low signal at 1200 feet? Hey everyone. I took my P4 out on it's maiden flight and went around a park as I wanted to test the range a little bit. I was about 350 feet up at a distance of 1200 feet away and I started to lose RC signal. I was in clear LOS and nothing in between myself and the...

    Poor signal at 1200 feet

Thank you! I'll check that out and post to the appropriate thread.

    Poor signal at 1200 feet

I had clear LOS and the bird was about 350 feet in the air. This was the first time I was flying it and I almost had a heart attack. It said poor signal and I believe it flashed red. Is this normal? That's seems extremely short especially since I was in a wide open area. Ps, is this data...

Interesting. So does anyone not get this noise?

    Descending with Phantom 4

Interesting question. I was just setting mine up in doors and have yet to fly. However, to initiate the motors you bring the sticks to the corner. To shut them off, you just hold down on the left stick for 1-2 seconds. I'm guessing Arthur is asking what I'm thinking as well, which is it you...

How many batteries are you getting?

Holy cow. Am I the only one who is just too cheap to buy another? Granted I haven't even flown mine yet and use it for recreational use, so maybe once I get out there I see a 2nd or 3rd is absolutely needed. But $170 is a hard pill to swallow. Especially 3-4 times.

    Gimbal noise (with video)

I checked the forums and saw that the gimbal does make some noises, but I didn't see a video to compare it too. Never had a gimbal before so I'm admitting I'm pretty much clueless and thought maybe this would provide an answer for others who have the same noise. The noise is much louder in my...
