UPDATE:
Vodafone has supposedly shut down their 2g network here in Australia. However, my little V16 seems to be kicking along quite fine tracking away with the Reachfar app with no issues :)
Quite happy with it upto date and don't plan on upgrading unless I really need to
Cheers
Jake
Yeah i might have to in another 5 months or so lets see. Yeah i do have a crazy Chinese start up and shut down tune on the v16 too lol
Hey i guess as long as it does its job :D
Right no vodafone coverage in the country unfortunately. The RFv16 doesn't have the photo option but i guess it can be useful to see where you landed especially if your far away from your aircraft. Another option is sticking a note somewhere to ask someone to press the SOS button incase if...
Depending on which country you are in. Why don't you try Vodafones 3G (365 day credit expiry) plan. You purchase the sim for $1 and then top up $10. Lasts for aaages. I've only spent $11 on my plan so far and still have about $5 left. Been running this for more than 7 months now.
You can update...
Vodafone will close their 2g network in Australia March 2018. I believe it was supposed to be September 2017.
No complaints for me, my RFv16 still works & hopefully will continue to work past March 2018 too :D
Cheers
Still using my RFv16 here. Seems to be working good enough for me for the time being.
The trackimo is good yes but a bit pricey. If you can afford it go for it.
Cheers
Hey guys, apologies if this has been asked already but is there a benefit to running MPM v5.3 on current firmware v1.8.10 ?
If yes, how do i go about doing this?
Thanks
jake
Where did you buy yours from? Do you have a link please... I have decided to purchase 2 of them along with a parallel charger so i can charge about 3 at a time.
20 mins is not enough with this thing lol
Jake
Thanks for pointing that out. I will keep those point in mind.
BTW - What's your take on using non OEM batteries? I can buy 3 of them for the price of an OEM battery here in Australia anyway. Its just ridiculous. In my research, I haven't heard of one story of a fire or the AC dropping out of...
Thanks for the answer to this. I've got a 4000mAh portable battery with a USB output DC5V 1A MAX. So i should be alright yeah?
The 4000mAH should be enough to charge roughly about once over with some power left to spare.
Jake
I appreciate all the answers and opinions thrown out here. I will NEVER discharge my battery to those levels again as I've come to the conclusion that it is really not necessary.
Thankyou Nigel for pointing that out. I've come to this conclusion myself. 25-30% is where i will plan on landing...
I do plan on using the excess power to charge up my mobile phone or my mp3 player. There's always some device that needs to be boosted :) That would be a good investment for me since we are entering the winter season here.
I've decided to leave the battery out - i think its a good idea due to...
