Thank you for the files. Both files played well and image quality was excellent.
The DJI_0015.MP4 (100Mbps HEVC) file had issues on my 2012 MacBook Pro running macOS Sierra (neither QuickTime Player, VLC or MPlayerX could play it). I expected this on this machine.
The DJI_0015.MP4 (100Mbps...
cdronefly,
Could you please share a sample of 100Mbps HEVC (h.265) encoded video from the Phantom 4 Pro?
This will be the bottleneck for my setup, but I'm interested in examining the P4Pro's HEVC output.
Thanks!
I'm wondering on the new Phantom 4, what happens if an insect or debris gets stuck on the front collision avoidance cameras? If the sensors are blocked, would the Phantom 4 find itself unable to go forward because it thinks something is ahead?
Update: 24 August 2014
Today I got home from work and a DHL package from DJI arrived. Inside was my original box containing a repaired Phantom 3 Pro. No additional accessories were included.
From my initial inspection, it looks like the body shell, legs, all four motors (the original 2312...
DJI offered to repair my P3 after it malfunctioned. They requested only the bird to be sent back without the battery. I shipped it from Australia to Hong Kong in the original box via Express Courier service.
I was in Auto mode for the Lightbridge channels.
During the pre-flight check list I had a brief look at the Lightbridge RC spectrum in the DJI Pilot app (now called the "DJI Go" app) and other than the usual channels used for WiFi, there were free channels available for Lightbridge to use.
From my experiments, I don't think the Phantom 3 is any faster in ATTI mode compared to GPS mode.
This is unlike my Phantom 2 Vision+ (with old v1.08 firmware), where the maximum angle of roll and pitch was greater thus allowing more speed (even if altitude was lost at maximum speed).
For...
Update (13 August 2015)
DJI have come back with an RMA request after their last email. They are offering a free repair. I have shipped the Phantom 3 Pro at my expense via express courier service, and it is now in DJI's hands in Hong Kong. Waiting to hear on further updates.
Update (28 July 2015)
After several rounds of emails to Ms Zhang as to why my aircraft's logs weren't correct (as explained previously), it appears that DJI has accepted that the Phantom was not behaving correct based off my iPad log.
Good news today is that DJI are offering to repair the...
Hearing about DJI's customer support is important to me because I'm deciding whether to even get a replacement P3.
My last unit malfunctioned and Is now inoperable after I did an emergency CSC to turn off the motors...
Just an update for record keeping (if anybody is interested).
My discussions with DJI Technical Support (Ms Zhang) has been productive, but we've hit a sticky point right now regarding the aircraft's .DAT log files.
After the incident, I discharged my three Phantom 3 batteries back in the...
The aircraft's logs are stored in the aircraft. In the DJi app, you need to:
- Click “Mode” icon to view the “Advanced Settings”.
- Click “MC Enter Read Flight Data Mode”.
- After a few seconds, the DJI Flight Log disk will be detected by the PC and you will be able to access the data.
You...
I use Aperture and Lightroom.
Found by accident a while ago (and posted on PhantomPilot) that if you run the DJI DNG Cleaner the output DNGs will work in Aperture, Photo, Preview.

Yes I agree. Knowing the consequences, I can't see any upside to it.
On a more cheeky note, my instant reaction when I heard about this was that: as DJI customers, aren't we automatically beta testers? :)
As someone who lost my P3P recently, my take on it is that the machine travelled with me on my recent holiday and got me some great footage that will last a lifetime.
Despite losing a couple of thousand dollars (that I don't think was even my fault), at least I shut it down before it could hurt...
