US National Park Service has banned all "drones"

I don't blame the NPS at all. Too many of us do too many stupid things with drones.

Where are the good places to fly?

I hear all of you. What you say makes sense . . . for now. But as municipalities, states, provinces and countries increasingly regulate drone flying, it may come to pass that we will need a list of places to go in order to fly at all.

Where are the good places to fly?

Fly, that is, without encroaching on private property, angering people, drawing the law down on one's head, or running into trees. Perhaps we could put together a list of Good Places to Fly. I'll start with the U.S. My site of choice is OGM, the Ontonagon County Airport near Ontonagon in the...

    Those dratted screws

I'm back from the local hardware store. Found No. 0 and No. 00 Philips head screwdrivers with much larger handles than the stupid thin-handled watch repair screwdrivers I tried this morning. If one of them won't work with my hands the original nuts and bolts (there are 3 left and I just need 2)...

    Those dratted screws

I am trying to install an antijello camera isolator mount on my P1.1.1, but the camera mount bolts are defeating me. They come with very very tight lock nuts and I just cannot get the little bolts through them with small Phillips head screwdrivers. I strip the bolt heads. I'm an old guy and my...

    Drilling self-tightening props

No answers, so I guess nobody's tried drilling the props yet. I have a chewed-up one and will try drilling that. Report to come.

    Drilling self-tightening props

I need to balance my 1.1.1 self-tightening props. I'm thinking of drilling a hole through the prop cap so that I can do the balance on a TopFlite balancer. Any downside to drilling those holes? I do have a drill press.

Is repairing broken prop guards possible?

A hostile tree ran into my Phantom 1.1.1 yesterday and broke a prop guard. Nothing else. I have of course ordered a replacement set of prop guards, but would like to know if it is possible to reglue the broken guard together. If so, what kind of cement works with that plastic?

How to free stuck self-tightening props

Oh, never mind! As soon as I left that post I saw the video explaining how to install and remove the props (with that wrench). I have the wrench. I really need to reread everything. Dumb noob move. Sorry.

How to free stuck self-tightening props

I have a new Phantom 1.1.1 and have flown it a couple of times. Naturally I flew it into a tree and into the ground, and the self-tightening propellers tightened themselves some more, to the point where I can't get them off by holding the motor in my left hand and twisting the prop with my...
