    FC40 Cam Questions

Hahah, that is an awesome view of your flight. Love the K'nex rig too.

FC40 in the Adirondacks. First Week of Flying

I had a great chance to fly my new FC40 up in the Adirondacks this past weekend. Not only is was it my first quad and first week of flying but this is my first venture into video editing so apologies if the cut is a little rough. I am totally addicted to flying quads and already planning what to...

    4000 mAh from UK

My typical flight time with the stock batteries was ~8 minutes flying to the first or second warning. I fly all stock FC40 with prop guards.

    4000 mAh from UK

I received my two Turnigy 4000 Mah batteries from HobbyKing yesterday. I filed down the bottom lip of the opening with a Dremel in about a minute. Very easy to do if you know how to use a Dremel. The batter fit right in after that. It is snug, but it fits with very minor modification. The...

    Battery storage condition

So for long term storage, should the batteries be charged up for an hour or two after a flight where you fly until the second voltage warning?

    'Almost' A Catastrophe.....

I installed a little velcro tape on my door last night after reading this thread. Even before seeing this thread I was a bit disappointed with the latching mechanism of the battery door. Especially since I seem to have two possible battery install outcomes. Either A) the way the wires fold...

    fail safe

You can manually set Home Lock and Course lock with the FC40 v2. To set course lock you toggle S2 between off and CL position 5 times. To manually set home lock you toggle between CL and HL positions 5 times. I have done both with my FC40.

Is there really a yellow light? Maybe I'm color blinded

You know what, I think I was being generous with that orange. I just closely watched the start up sequence and there is no color shift between yellow and red. I don't think the green LED is lighting up at all during "yellow" blinks. When it gets dark I will record video. There is no difference...

Is there really a yellow light? Maybe I'm color blinded

Haha, If only the LEDs in my FC40 were that distinct. It is more like this. Squint your eyes or walk 30m away from your screen. Not very distinct.

    fail safe

I think it has to do with the overlapping conditions of Course Lock and Home Lock. Sometimes these conditions are met in a stagger, so you get a Course Lock ,first quick set of green flashes, and then the Home Lock, second set of green flashes. You can also have a start up procedure where they...

Is there really a yellow light? Maybe I'm color blinded

I feel the exact same way. There is definitely a yellow light (but I would say it is orange more than yellow) and it becomes almost impossible to distinguish in flight. Drives me crazy. I ordered this volage checker w/alarm to help me feel more confident in the voltage warnings. When flying...
