Entire coastline of CA is drone free as of 2017.

If someone lives in the Monterey, CA area, might be helpful to go to the main BLM office of the monumnet and ask "Where can we fly a drone at?" California Coastal National Monument Bureau of Land Management 940 2nd Avenue Marina, CA 93933-6009 I've had issues with emailing bureaucratic...

Entire coastline of CA is drone free as of 2017.

Got it! The BLM map needs a lot of zoom and waiting to see the small dots instead of the line. The USGS earthquake one is the one that alarmed me as the USGS seems to say everything is CA Coastal Monument. Aside, I never have seen a BLM ranger on Hwy. 1 though. Some Forest Service green...

Entire coastline of CA is drone free as of 2017.

There's a better BLM map here of what coastline they now cover as part of the National Monument or Conservation Area shown in red. My estimate ia maybe 70-80% of the CA coastline is under their control. BLM Map I was at the BLM and they were grumbling about having to take over the CA...

Entire coastline of CA is drone free as of 2017.

I first saw it on the USGS map for earthquakes yesterday. Zoom in along the CA coastline and they show it. The USGS map is updated probably more often than many we see. USGS CA Coastline map.

Entire coastline of CA is drone free as of 2017.

I just learned flying a drone along most of the coast in California is now illegal from the BLM. Seems some California Coastal National Monument Expansion Act of 2017 signed by Obama put the coastline under National Monument status. Extends 12 miles out into the ocean too. CA Coastal...

Gatwick airport closed due drone reported in area

Lots of the story here: Latest news. Guy has transversed the field 50 times, both day and night. Suspect drone is a Matrice variety, possibly a hacked system to thwart GPS geo-fencing. Odd why the geo-fence at that south London airport is so small compared to USA ones. It touches the ends...

Gatwick airport closed due drone reported in area

Yeah, I saw it on the TV news tonight about the London thing also showing some video footage of a Phantom puncturing a wing in a 238 mph test crash. Sort of puts to rest the idea a drone cannot do any damage and why they shut the airport down. Phantom puncturing wing of aircraft.

someone PLEASE explain commercial pilot stuff to me

Yep, there's a whole lotta stuff involved if you want to do it legally as a business. Aside from the 107, you also may need insurance, a business license, a commercial film permit, some DJI unlocks if under a NFZ airspace, permissions from land owners, property release if trademarked, knowledge...

DJI did it again! Worst Customer Service in the World!!!

I've gotten three DJI products that had issues right out of the box, but my dealer took them back since I discovered all within a week. I really don't think DJI Service cares and would prefer you to go away or pay them no matter what. If it's any help, you can read their BBB complaints here...

Hundreds violate FAA's Drone no fly zone at Albuquerque's Balloon fiesta

I thought I read where Los Angeles was also using some sort of tracking (Another name though.) for illegal drone flights since the place is covered with airports. An 11 mile detection range of the DJI Tracker would pretty much cover the entire area. NYC as well. Now if the balloon festival...

Pennsylvania's new $300 drone privacy bill.

Seems the governor signed it into law if one invades someones privacy or may cause harm with a drone. Pennsylvania's new drone bill signed. I can see this as another "gray bill" whre it erupts into a "He said. She said." matter. No mention of specifics as to what constitutes the privacy or...

FAA Approves DJI To Authorize Customer Flights In Controlled Airspace

Given the feds got involved with DJI to provide the unlocks, it bothers me that DJI is so slow to get their software (Months.), firmware (More months.), and often closed for a holiday (Month in Jan.) to provide any service at all to provide an unlock in a timely manner. They still cannot get...

Automated Circle with Perfect 10° Waypoints for Still Photos?

Hangar's Autopilot will do it easily. You'd just set a center focus point and still shot at every 10 degrees in Orbit Center. You'd have to draw the circular route out first though, and then set the waypoints and sundry camera triggers. You can test fly the route and see if it works before...

California State Parks - Where can you really fly?

I was looking at the Facebook page of Red Rocks State Park in CA and read in one post: Karen White Note near the end where she mentions, "Drone cameras are not currently allowed, but ask the park rangers as this may change. " Some hope maybe?
