Just changed the shell and put everything back together (not many extra parts left over!).
Test flight I get the Compass Error - Exit GPS mode. Calibrated IMU's and compass prior to flight in the same location I always do. Did I screw something up in the rebuild? What would a bad compass...

As you can see, it depends on how much work you're asking the bird to do. Personally, I don't like to go much below 40% which usually equates to 10-15 minutes in winter. They run cooler, recharge faster and will live longer than if they're routinely mistreated. Keep a close eye on the power bar...

Thanks for the post, especially on when and when not to calibrate. I'm of the old-school "if it ain't broke" philosophy, but still need to watch our for cumulative errors.
You might also try the Bestem BT-Phantom Knobs ($10 on Amazon). Gives a larger area to grip and seems to help. As others have said, dialing the gain back in all axi - even the gimbal rate, also helps a lot.
