A easier way to dispose a lipo battery is to fill a bucket up with water and add salt to it.
The salt will activate the ions in the battery and it will drain to 0%
The DJI go app latest is on your phone or tablet just go to apple apps and update
Or google apps to update.
To find out what version you have click on DJI go then click ME then settings.
At the bottom you will see what version you have.

I think what happened is when you couldn't shut the Aircraft down with the button it was stuck in limbo trying to update the battery and by taking the battery out without the proper shut down you corrupted the battery.
Try and contact DJI and tell them your battery will not charge or update...
Dumb question but what's the percentage of the over all battery health?
I had a bad battery that was 70% health left and it acted just like this.
I won't fly unless it's 80% or higher anything less then that it for low flying and close to me.

I've had a few phantom 2's for a year priory before owning the P3P :)
Learned flying on them before buying a Phantom 3 professional :)
