    My homemade range extender

Re-testing with the radio antennae pointed straight up and the reflector on I hit about 2900 ft. Yesterday, under the same conditions but with the antennae sideways, I hit about 2700 ft.

    My homemade range extender

I saw a reply to a post recently (which I cannot find) in one of the range extender threads where a guy said he made a reflector out of aluminum foil and mounted it behind the control antennae on his radio. A consensus seemed to develop that he was being less than truthful about the increase in...

    Transmitter Batteries

I am curious what type of batteries people are using in their radio? Regular Alkaline, Rechargeable, Lithium, something else? I have always used the regular alkaline but was wondering if other folks think something else is better and why. I soured on rechargeable batteries long before...

Couple of uses for ATTI mode

John, you make an excellent point which I had not considered. I guess I was assuming that even when the Phantom is drifting with the wind, there would still be some relative wind speed, but it would indeed be diminished. The Phantom would be, in effect, chasing it's downwash instead of moving...

Couple of uses for ATTI mode

In addition to allowing a bit smoother video due to turning off the constant GPS control inputs, I have found 2 more uses for ATTI mode. 1. If you are planning to fly a long distance and want to better ensure you have enough battery to get back from the turn around (or control signal loss)...

Consider this before buying a vision plus

I don't speak for skyhighdiver but I think I can answer your question, and the answer is NO. The P2V+ is very easy to fly, however it is also very unforgiving if you have any sort of hard landing or minor crash, I found this out the hard way! My camera/gimbal assembly is toast after a hard...

Should I remove the Camera & Gimbal?

You are correct. The Wifi repeater is not needed at all unless you have the camera/gimbal attached. I removed mine from the transmitter.

How to fight the fragile gimbal/cam?

I was thinking a couple of zip ties would do the trick, i.e. replace the plastic pins with zip ties, tied loosely of course.

I Just Crashed my Vision Plus, I Need Help

I just talked to DJI in California on Friday regarding sending my baby in for repairs. The very nice chap who answered (Jason) said that they were expecting a shipment on Friday (May 30th) and they would start to issue RMAs on Monday (2 June).

Should I remove the Camera & Gimbal?

One other thing regarding removing the camera/gimbal. My Phantom became a bit unbalanced after the camera and gimbal were removed, in that it would want to pitch up on takeoff. I was able to fix that by removing the rear prop guards and flying with just the front ones on. Now she takes off...

    Camera/Gimbal Removal Guide

I have attached the pictures to this thread (should I remove the camera/gimbal)... http://www.phantompilots.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=16152 Hope that works, never inserted a URL, just cut and pasted.

Should I remove the Camera & Gimbal?

I wish I had removed mine. Had a bit of a hard landing and now the gimbal is toast. Camera is fine, copter is fine, hardly a scratch. Mind you this is my 5th drone, so I should have known better. Was very worried about 'fly-aways', when I should have paid more attention to staying well away...
