Do you guys calibrate your compass every flight?

I think I have calibrated three times. On the first flight, once for firmware upgrade, then once for the FJ8 receiver install. I am approaching 1 year with my Phantom. I have flown in a lot of different places far away from where I have calibrated. The last time I calibrated was in December, in...

    Best radio?

I was in the same boat a few weeks ago. Did all kinds of research. Ended up with the Futaba 8J. Pretty easy setup. Works great. Plus a have a couple channels to grow into. I bought the Futaba because I trust them. Ive used Futaba for years with out trouble. I think ANY radio will be a huge...

Not a fly away but non-responsive to input

You know what Driffill, I think you might be right. I remember looking almost straight up at the Phantom. I also remember reading somewhere about the radio transmission when directly overhead. Lesson learned.

Not a fly away but non-responsive to input

So there I am. Finally out in the Desert flying in the wide open sky. I flew 4 or 5 times that day. Had some friends show up at camp. So I fired up the Phantom and took to the skies again. Everybody was really impressed with the ability of the Phantom. It was pitch dark and the lights looked...

Colin Guinn is mentioned in this article...

It's all about "expectation of privacy". I would expect that in my backyard, but not at the beach or in front of my house. The Wiki is worth a read. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expectation_of_privacy I sell surveillance for a living. People as me everyday if it's legal to have hidden or...

    Roll your own.

I agree with you both. Just the satisfaction of going to Home Depot to build / replace parts would be nice. But I understand reinventing wheels.

    Roll your own.

Found this on Life Hacker today. http://lifehacker.com/heres-everything-you-need-to-build-your-very-own-quadr-1300747301 I always wanted to try this. I talked to a guy that did it. He bought the entire frame at Home Depot. The arms were that square tubing used for hanging towels in the bathroom.

When did you buy your Phantom?

Another successful flight yesterday for me. So far nothing over 8 or 9 months old. When did you buy your Phantom?
