Another flying site bites the dust - Hershey, PA

With or without a camera, quadcopters are drones: "Drone" fits the bill. I posted the following in June: Merriam Webster defines drone as: 1 : the male of a bee (as the honeybee) that has no sting and gathers no honey 2 : one that lives on the labors of others : parasite 3 : an unmanned...

    Quick Release Prop Guards

I bought a set of Firebolts. They are of good quality and install easily. I like that the pins are a bit deeper than other similar products that I have seen. With any product, there's going to be that intersection between quality and price--it's called value.

    SIGINT--Signal Intercept--and Flying Our Drones

My original posting didn't get any responses, but the following are some more references about interfering with drones, etc. Of all the countless discussions that this forum and others have discussed about fly-aways, we haven't discussed electronic signal interruption. Any number of entities...

    Quick Release Prop Guards

Is that $25 for a set of four pieces? Your website doesn't make that clear.

    Flying Above Crowds!

Even if you have insurance-liability coverage, such a policy might require you to not fly near others--that is, keep a minimum distance. I saw another Phantom--perhaps the same one--fly over the next day at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where thousands of people were on the field where...

    Flying Above Crowds!

This morning at the Concours d'Lemons (Seaside, California), where many hundreds of people and over 100 motor vehicles had gathered in a fairly small city park, low and behold someone flew a Phantom overhead!! The buzzing noise seemed to distract a lot of people in the park. Does anyone think...

Cops trying to figure out what to do about Drones

Regardless of criminal laws, statues, and regulations, (or the lack thereof), couldn't civil lawsuits be a concern for drones?

    SIGINT--Signal Intercept--and Flying Our Drones

I saw a video clip on how "the military" was researching how to deal with the potential threat of UAV's or drones, and this made me wonder about various SIGINT technologies might--and perhaps already do--interfere with our flying of our radio-controlled quadcopters, etc. Perhaps development and...

Isn't it time to embrace the word "drone?"

"Toy Drone" might be a useful term to use when confronted with someone who is suspicious or creates a confrontation about flying the drone. I know some people will object to "toy", but connotation of "toy" might help to de-escalate (is that a word?) some situations. Regardless of my blather...

    DJI CEO with Reuters

Thank you for posting this. Colin was The Face of DJI--and I think he did an awesome job--but regardless, it's nice to associate a new person as that spokesperson. I appreciate that the CEO is reaching out and putting a face back onto DJI.

    San Francisco Pilots

There's a group that I had met across the bay in Berkeley a few weeks ago. They had organized through meetup.com. This might be the group: http://www.meetup.com/East-Bay-Drone-Meetup/ It would be nice to find some meetup groups on the peninsula. There's also a meetup group in San...

"Drone" fits the bill. I posted the following in June: Merriam Webster defines drone as: 1 : the male of a bee (as the honeybee) that has no sting and gathers no honey 2 : one that lives on the labors of others : PARASITE 3 : an unmanned aircraft or ship guided by remote control In the...

    FOUND MY PHANTOM!!!!!!!!

I have three GoPro cameras, and I'm amazed at how rugged they are. My two older GoPro cameras have been dropped onto hard cement and other surfaces a number of times--and these situations were without the exterior plastic casing. My newest GoPro hasn't been crashed (knock on wood).

Lady in park yelled at me tonight...

Re: Lady in Brooklyn park yelled at me tonight... That's a good point, if you can aim the carcam at flying or activities. Perhaps an action cam mounted on a helmet, hat, or chest would be beneficial to record any disturbances. (Recall the chap who recorded a mentally disturbed "lady" who...
