Mississippi River Flood Wall in Cape Girardeau Missouri - record crest

Thanks! I started to take 'er up (I did in a few videos earlier in the week) but there were several "sight-seeing" full-sized copters flying around near the bridge, so I decided to play it safe. I've never seen so many helicopters out and about, even with 2 hospitals in town.

Mississippi River Flood Wall in Cape Girardeau Missouri - record crest

Thank, yeah this is about a foot above the previous record from 1993. The wall was built in 1965 and has never had a major failure. Hydrology is a weird science, and as I understand things it makes no difference how WIDE the river is, only how deep, as to how much pressure is exerted on the...

Mississippi River Flood Wall in Cape Girardeau Missouri - record crest

Some shots from around the 50-year old flood wall that protects the downtown area. Record river height at 48.8', which is 16' or so over flood stage. I shot this at sunset, edited and had it uploaded to YouTube within about 2.5 hours. Nothing like rush work! But I DO try to tell a story every...

Some flooding shots in Southeast Missouri, on the Mississippi River

Oh yeah, I'm flying a a P3P, shooting 4K Dlog, Snake River Prototyping ND8/CP on the sunny days, and a GetterBack strapped to the landing gear (but of course it if drops into the Mississippi, there's no recovering that, hehe).

Some flooding shots in Southeast Missouri, on the Mississippi River

Been flying a lot the last few days to try and document some of the record flooding around the area.

    Tighten P3 sticks/springs

Ok, I opened it up, futzed with the ribbon cable (the trickiest bit). BUT, the sticks are already at their "tightest", vis-a-vis the springs. They are at their maximum tension, which seems silly - you would think DJI would calibrate it to where you could tighten or loosen the springs at least a...

I'm sorry I'm tired of the tilted horizon

That was driving me crazy as well. I finally did a mid-air gimbal auto-calibration on a day with no wind and haven't had a problem since. I hope it holds out, since that was soooo frustrating to have to manually calibrate (mine was -2.1) every time I started a flight.

Nexus 7 (2013) Users - Are your tablets working ok?

What screen protector are you using? Is it a "stay-on" or can it be used just for situations like this? Thanks.

    Tighten P3 sticks/springs

Thanks for the link! They are there, just by the silver screws. Good to see.

    Tighten P3 sticks/springs

Has anyone cracked open the P3 controller to tighten the springs on these sticks? I find them pretty loose for my taste. I've done that on my P2 - it was really easy. I don't want to tear into this until I've seen some others try it first! :)

Nexus 7 (2013) Users - Are your tablets working ok?

I have it shaded with a Summitlink hood. The reflections are the main issue, though. I also shoot video with a rig using a Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q recorder/display. Using a similar hood, I can see detail better on that display, so I'm just looking around to see what's out there. I WISH...

Nexus 7 (2013) Users - Are your tablets working ok?

I love my Nexus 7 (2013), but it's not been without issues re: P3P. I've have 3-4 of the "lost connection to maps" error, but it's quick to recover from. I've had the video simply lock up, then after about a minute the tablet rebooted. Control was fine, but I was pretty high up an just a spec in...

Cornfield Tornado Damage Path - East of Kelso MO Aerial (drone) view - 7/9/2015

It probably wouldn't be too impossible in FRONT of the storm, but when the rain curtain comes in, time to get down quickly. ;):)

Cornfield Tornado Damage Path - East of Kelso MO Aerial (drone) view - 7/9/2015

A view of the damage to property and a corn field caused by an apparent Tornado touchdown on 7/8/2015. This happened just east of Kelso MO and just south of Scott City MO. Clear path trough the cornfield, and it just missed that house by the road - very lucky. The touchdown continued across the...

Mississippi River Floodwall in downtown Cape Girardeau, MO.

Yes, the spot is almost in the direct center of that image, looking west toward the wall.
