I've done both. Update on one and not the other. I would chose not to update were I to do it again. Make sure you use the early GO app! Current ones force updates.

I wear glasses. After a few different fpv goggles, I settled on fat shark. Versatile and there are at least two suppliers of corrective lens inserts..$80 a pair. If that's an issue.

Same issue with mine. One is updated the other is not. I wish I'd have kept both original. I've had absolutely no problem with the university upgraded drone...many with the other. Like many, If it ain't broke, don't feel it.

Be very careful with the screws if you put them on. I used uv epoxy inside instead (the reinforces plates caused some problems)to reinforce the whole motor mount area. Worked great for all three p3ps ...on with really severe cracks is still flying 3 years later.

I thought the sequence was important, but I haven't had any problems no matter when I did what. Plugged in, unplugged, controller or drone first...doesn't seem to matter. But, that's with a P3P. Enjoy, I don't think I would fly a drone without one!

I agree with most. Keep it the way,it is. I wouldn't bet the farm, but I think the upgrades are a lot about sentencing. I have 3 p3p .. one original fw, one upgraded and works, and on upgraded and dead. Also, don't think that downgrading the fw will revert...you have an app, controller, and...

I did both, the upgrade demanded firmware up grades which tanked the drone on one and worked on the other (I have 3). I am now a firm believer in ..if it works, don't fix it. Find the old go app.

It's why I chose fat shark. You can get prescription inserts. Much better when you can see the hud.

As before, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Is my drone mantra for the p3 series. As long as dji doesn't lock you out, you're ok.

I fly over the Pacific mostly, so you have my sympathy. One of my p3ps is like yours. I plan to make some money on it by going to the coastal rifle range and charging twenty a shot to shoot me out of the sky (rifle only)...they'll get a bang out of it and I'll score $$$$
