If you use prop guards, read this warning

So, that's a good thought - could take it apart and cap off the screw hole from the inside, or just use the right screws...

Compass Error on attempting yo take off at canal lock

Learn to fly competently in ATTI first so you are prepared for when it happens - drift will always occur in this mode.

    Flying Over Water - Questions

Didn't read the end of the sentence, sorry - I believe in ATTI flying not for speed, but so a pilot understands the effect of wind on speed and direction so as to not be surprised if ATTI occurs for any reason. Plus, I think it's just more fun to fly in A mode!

    Flying Over Water - Questions

Foosy, you are right on point with each of your comments, especially 1, 2/3, and 4! I would add, if you crash in salt water, just leave it for Captain Nemo...

Would stopping the motor damage it?

I agree - quick-release prop guards so you can use them when you want, and turn off VPS, and not likely any damage to the motors or escs....

    Flight mode function "A"

Yes, I have done very similar things in A mode, especially when I was learning. That's why I started practicing in A mode so if a situation every occurred when GPS wasn't available, I would be prepared. That situation was much more likely with the P2, and not so much with the P3, but you never...

    Flight mode function "A"

I fly in A mode more than I fly in P mode - I practice making control responses instinctive, visually and using the map, so that I don't have to depend on RTH or GPS to control my P3P. A mode just seems more fun, and then when I want to relax I just switch to P...just my own personal preference.

Phantom 3 Professional or Inspire 1?

Two tools, two toys, I like them both! I may start a collection, but first I buy some Li-Po battery stock
