    4K video codec H.264 question?

H.265 decoding is computationally easier than encoding (usually). I can't speak to the actually hardware inside a P3 and its RC, but I can't imagine it's HEVC comparable and not being used. It allows for the same quality at less than half the bandwidth. Or nearly 4x the resolution at about...

Anyone fly without a monitor/app running?

I laughed at "daycare playgrounds" You can't calibrate the compass without an app device. In a canyon you're more likely to lose GPS quality and rely more on the compass. You're increasing number your risk of an uncontrolled flyaway. That's risky and arguably irresponsible. We (the...

Finally got 4k with DashWare overlay

The novelty of having a telemetry overlay on my videos wore off so I rarely do it. But it should still work. Walking you through the process in any given program is too much for here, this is the principal. Take the length of your flight video, hypothetically we'll say it's 10 minutes long...

    4K video codec H.264 question?

I edit my P3P footage in Final Cut Pro X. I dump it out as an h.264 MP4 for youtube. I then take that same exported file and run it through Handbreak to get a h.265 version. That version plays on my Vizio via a flash drive. Since YouTube crushes the 264 file you upload, the 265 version (even...

Anyone fly without a monitor/app running?

Flying without a app is fine. Pre-flighting without it is impossible to do safely. As mentioned, there do way to check vitals and calibrate the compass without it. Is suggest you have an obligation to the community of fliers to fly responsibly and safely. I don't think you'll change your...

Oh boy ! Did I mess this up ......

The controller in the battery knows what full is. Every once in a while you have to remind it what empty is. This allows it to more accurately report %. (More precisely: it allows the charge % to drop consistently instead of showing say 45% one moment and then 19% the next.) All modern lithium...

    Phantom_3_Professional_Firmware_v1.4.0010__en

Have you tried redownloading the firmware in the past few days? The reposted 1.4.0010 fixed my "no signal" issue

    Back in the air

My last flight was June 12. Since then I've completed renovation of a house and moved in to it. Sometimes life gets in the way of fun. Last week I did 4 months worth of firmware updates. I got the dreaded "No Signal" which is to say, no live video feed. DJI said it was hardware and I'd need to...

    P3 Firmware Release Date Change

This new firmware fixed my "no signal" issue. I had no live video feed after the previous update. DJI has been issuing RMAs for this (in fact I have one). Since it Halle d due to firmware, it was pretty unlikely that it was a hardware issue. Glad it's fixed.

    Got my RageCam ND filters

So it does still vignette a little bit. Fortunately it's in the soft, outer edge of the frame. (just working on smooth pans on this flight)

    Got my RageCam ND filters

Just to be clear, it was bottomed out. The still photo in my video is post-cutting. After cutting, the filter bottoms out with the ND glass touching (just about) the front of the camera. Previously, the black rubber would hit the camera body, keep the ND glass about 1/4" from the front of the...

Play P3 MP4 video on smart tv

My Vizio will only play 4k from a flashdrive if it's h.265 with acc audio. Handbreak didn't work either- I had to encode it with DivX. But on a 4k TV, watching 4k video that hasn't been destroyed by Youtube is really something special. If your computer is able to play 4k video, you can try...

Finally got 4k with DashWare overlay

Yeah that'd be good... I imported a 1080p green screen (generated from Final Cut) into DashWare. I then rendered the gauge on the green screen from DashWare. The green+gauge gets put on top of the 4k in Final Cut and the green gets composited out. You see the result. The gauge is stretched...
