Out In The Field With Verifly

I agree that this type of Instant Insurance isn't perfect for everyone or every situation and if you're doing a large volume of commercial work, you're better off with a yearly policy so you can complete the applications in advance. You'll probably also have a better rate for the insurance as...

Out In The Field With Verifly

The Verifly application allows you to instantly purchase insurance for an hour of flying with a million dollars of liability coverage. I use it a lot and wanted to do a clip to show others how easy it was to use since I had a lot of questions after the first overview clip I did. It's a pretty...

Out In The Field With Verifly

I wanted to post a clip of me using the Verifly application for an actual flight. This clip shows you just how easy it is to use the app and what types of maps and coverage details you'll have access to.

    Mavic Release Discussion

I'm excited about the new Mavic as well and did an overview clip on it yesterday. Mine's on the way and hope to have it flying in a few weeks. I still think there's a future for the Phantom line and am hoping some of the new features in Mavic make it into the Phantom 5. We'll see....

A few tips for finding a lost Drone

I just finished a clip that might help you find a lost drone. I've had a few go missing and it can be a scary time "treasure hunting" for your quad. I hope this helps.

Case for airline travel or protect it in the big case?

I just did a clip that covers traveling with your drone and show a few cases that I use. I'm on a plane a few times a week and include a few tips you'll need to know to zip through an airport. My suggestion would be to get a case that fits overhead and carry the drone on board with you and check...

Drones On a Plane - Traveling Safe With Your Drone

I just put a quick clip together about the things you'll need to know when taking your drone on a plane. I included the FAA regulations as well as the tips and tricks I've learned the hard way. It could save you some time and hassle if you're trying to sneak in a last minute vacation before...

Battery smoking in flight catching fire

Lol, I think most users think the batteries are sealed and don't understand that the small slits on the side of the battery housing are for ventilation for the LiPo cells and can actually let water and moisture inside of the battery. I'm not saying that's what happened here but it does happen.

Battery smoking in flight catching fire

I totally agree that they should at least inspect the drone to better gauge how the fire started and try and find a compromise. I also know from experience that most of these types of issues come from a damaged battery. I had a customer send back a Phantom 3 battery with actual mold growing on...

Battery smoking in flight catching fire

I'm not sure if that reply was for me or a comment in general but there are situations where the warranty wouldn't apply. I'm not taking DJI's side in this and think they should replace the cell and repair the drone but if the battery was physically damaged or wet (even a little) there is...

Battery smoking in flight catching fire

Tom, It's unsettling (and a little scary) to see those pics of the smoking battery. I'm not surprised that the logs don't show anything strange because the controller board inside of the battery would have prevented this type of event from happening if it was caused by a short in the battery or...

    AerialTEK Copper Parabolic add-on.

Maxx is spot on, the antenna are omni-directional and the PC board is essentially invisible to the signal. Technically it's a dipole antenna on the P3A, P3P and P4 because there are a pair of them. For the best radiation pattern it's important to keep them parallel to each other to avoid an...

    AerialTEK Copper Parabolic add-on.

I wanted to weigh in here as well. I have used these for a long time and they do work but require a little adjustment when you're flying with them. You have to careful to point the controller in the"general" direction of the drone. The beam spread is pretty wide (about 120 degree from what I've...
