I have been toying with the idea of using reflective tape on the landing struts in case I lose my drone in tall trees. I guess the drone’s batteries would die after 30 mins, so you would have no led lights to help locate the drone (which could potentially land in a really tall tree and be stuck...
Hi there. Since buying the drone 2 weeks ago I’ve been out almost every day learning the different functions. I flew a Syma X5C for about 6 months prior to my purchase, so I have reasonably good flight skills. At the moment, I’m watching YouTube vids then going out and applying what I’ve...
Thanks again for sharing your story. We humans do get attached to inanimate objects ( cars, phones, bikes etc). But when they get broken, we react as if it’s an injured child or animal. Hope you’re flying again soon ?
Oh dear! Your gimble disappeared. And your camera is cracked. I can only imagine how sick you felt afterwards. How much to repair? I think I needed to see those pics and realise what can happen when you get cocky/ lose concentration etc. Many thanks for sharing those disturbing images.
On a real helicopter, if the blades suddenly are forced to stop due to an obstruction ( ie the ground) the blades will either rapidly disintegrate, or the airframe will try spinning, causing massive damage.
I’m wondering if the Phantom has a clutch system which allows the rotors to disengage...
I have been flying using my phone as a monitor and have experienced the exact same thing. I looked on YouTube and found loads of vids on how to make your own sun shade using cardboard. I’m making one now. Cheap and easy.
I’ve been doing just that. Going to a really big open space and testing safety features, like RTH etc. I spent considerable time flying a Syma X5 and had great fun learning to fly the machine, with some pretty spectacular smashes. It belonged to my 13 year old nephew, who had zero interest in it...
Somebody else said the same thing. After their update, things never worked the same again. I may fix helicopters for real, but I’ll let the avionics guys deal with software/digital systems like AFCS (aircraft flight control systems). Thanks again.
Great advice and thank you. I’m getting into the habit of reading my flight manual for 20 mins after flying and batteries have been depleted. Thanks again, much appreciated.
Thanks for a swift reply. I’ll keep flying and getting used to how things work and if all is well, maybe I’ll skip the upgrade for now. Everything works fine so far. Many thanks!
Hello there.
I’ve recently been familiarising myself with the DJI Go app for the above drone and it tells me that I need to upgrade the firmware. The DJI website tells me that the latest update is V1.11.20. Is this correct as I’m afraid that the drone won’t work properly if I install the new...
