    Changing the camera lens?

I guess something such as this would be fitted in the same fashion they show in that video then.

    Changing the camera lens?

As you might have seen by my previous thread I'm not afraid to try out things beyond what the manufacturer supplies, and something else I am curious about before I potentially take the plunge and buy a phantom is the camera lens. I've seen a video or two about being able to change the lens on...

    Folding props

Thanks for the tips. When I was initially considering building one I vaguely had a Y6 in mind as I heard they did well in strong wings and are often quite compact when folded. Camera wise, part of the reason I was initially directed to the phantoms was the ability to control the camera in...

    24 fps or 30 fps?

If you find you prefer the output from other shutter speeds then go for it. The idea of 24p being "cinematic" is a historical thing as much as anything. Films are slowly moving away from it. Sure, some people will claim the hobbit etc looked "fake" because it was shot at 48p, but chances are the...

    Folding props

I'd love to see what a 30kg camera drone would have on it. For the DIY machine you built were there any special considerations for made for high altitude flying? Building one myself is still something I'm considering if I can find a suitable camera that I like.

Just south of Interlaken. I can see why flying over glaciers would be lovely, but paragliders definitely seems to be the preferable way of doing it around where I'll be.

    Folding props

I've spent multiple seasons guiding in the area and have not once have I, or any of my party, seen a glider, nor do I know anyone local who flies one. Just not popular in that area. Shame paragliders don't have it

Would this also show paragliders? They seem to be about the only thing beyond helicopters I ever see up and about. Well, and the occasional base jumper/wingsuiter, but they've come and gone before you know it.

    Folding props

Thanks for the link. Tbh I'd love to see a 30kg drone, surely even a whole setup with a Red Epic wouldn't weight that much? Way beyond me though :). Having a read through the authorisation over crowds I don't think any quad would comply unfortunately: In the event of a technical defect, the...

    24 fps or 30 fps?

Again, it can sometimes come down to shutter speed. If you're shooting 24fps with a fast shutter speed and start doing fast movements, then your footage will end up with an almost strobe like effect, with stuff jerking from frame to frame. This could potentially lead to compression funniness...

    24 fps or 30 fps?

Hi, sorry I didn't reply to this earlier. As to whether or not you need an ND filter the sunny 16 rule can be handy (old exposure guideline from film photography days). You end up getting into a bit of exposure maths here, but basically on a sunny day, at f16, your ISO should match the shutter...

    Folding props

Thanks for the clarification. I might want to do some work over crowds that I think there are different rules for, but I should be fine for the core of what I want to do. Just gonna have to be extra vigilant for helicopters, there's always a few up around the mountains.

    24 fps or 30 fps?

Fair enough. I was just wondering because something stationary where not much changes between the i frames can be very efficiently compressed. I wonder how large the differences will be when the scene challenges the bitrate limit, for instance close to trees in the wind. (dw, I'm not expecting...

    24 fps or 30 fps?

Interesting. Can I ask what the scene was?

    24 fps or 30 fps?

I'm curious, have you actually tested this with identical clips, or have a source that has? I can definitely see you're logic behind it, but as the phantoms record compressed video I would have thought, given a busy scene, the 24p would simply show less compression artefacts for the same...
