Battery life is better than expected at 14k, I’ve climbed 11 fourteeners this winter, have flown from nearly all of them (it was too windy just once). Seems like maybe a 20% reduction in flight time. I wrap the batteries in hand warmers before starting hike.
Another advantage to using a tablet, occasionally if it's very hot and I'm not standing in shade, my iPad will overheat and shut down. When this happens, I pull iPhone out of pocket, plug it in, and resume. Takes maybe 30 seconds.
Cheap iPad cables are okay for charging, but not usually great at transmitting data. Woot.com usually has good deals on OEM lightning cables, usually like 3 for $20 or so.
Just like a car gets better gas mileage at part throttle than at full throttle, your Phantom will go farther on part throttle than at full. I believe this is why RTH and Follow Me won't go beyond 20-25 mph. Keeping voltage on the safe side is probably part of the equation as well.
