Does anyone on here ever just fly with no problems?

It's silly to say that all problems people have experienced are user created. There are any number of problems that can occur that a user can do nothing about. I personally have had 1 major crash and there was enough evidence that it was not my fault that I received a full replacement of my...

    lens for Fatshark goggles

The "-" means the correction is for near sighted, in other words can't see an object far away. "+"means far sighted, so that seeing something close is difficult, but far away is no problem. I am near sighted, but my correction is around -3 which is right inbetween the diopter lens inserts, so...

Do you guys calibrate your compass every flight?

I don't. The official advise I've seen from DJI was that you calibrate it when there is something looks wrong with how it hovers or if you change location by a long distance (hundreds of miles/km). My feeling is that if you calibrate it every time you are more likely to cause a problem as you...

Somebody else making a bad name for us

I'm not sure who looks worse. The guy that crashed his drone? or the frenzied scare-mongering news media channel interviewing a guy that thinks drones are being flown specifically to violate his privacy (like anyone would care what time of day he picks his nose). I do feel sorry for those of...

Well, it finally happened (RTH and it worked!)

Unless you want to use manual mode instead. Then turning off the TX is the only option, as most people replace RTH with manual. Still a good tip for most tho :) I had something similar happen to me a few weeks back. I did something profoundly dumb will testing the video TX range. I didn't pay...

Progress so far (or lack of!)

Here's a tip for doing the firmware upgrade. Connect your USB cable directly to a USB port you know is fully working. I had a huge problem upgrading my firmware to 4.02 a while back. I was connecting my phantom through an extension USB cable and the upgrade failed, even though the assistant...

Phantom 1 Extension Power Wiring - How?

I've done this mod with the ImmersionRC tx (that I got with my Fatshark kit) and it was a simple case of just soldering the power extension wire to the JST from the power filter cable. I've not experienced any problems with removing the power filter, all seems to work great :)

Flying Phantom 1 in manual mode

One huge benefit of little stabilisation is that there are no jerky motions as the phantom stabilises when taking videos. You control the pitch and roll and the phantom doesn't try to correct it. Manual mode is probably the best mode for taking good videos.

    Post your Phantom 1 mods.

Mine 1.1.1 is an FPV machine. So far I've put P2V props on it and I use 2750mah batteries that I got from firstpersonview.co.uk. So I can get flight times of up to 11-12 minutes if I fly slow, but I'm mostly barrelling around in manual mode :D A mini IOSD is my most recent upgrade, and boy...

Phantom 1 FPV Setup With Long Flight Times

Thank you for posting a video of your set up. My main focus with my Phantom is FPV, so it's always interesting to see how other people set theirs up. I have 2 thoughts on your set up. The first is that your camera seems to be glued in place. I think that must be as a consequence of have the...

Does anyone else feel lost here?

I'm not really keen on the idea of being told how to post. I quite like the discussion that follows when someone asks a question, and someone else gives an answer that I haven't read before. This tech is still evolving and changing, and I don't think there are many "answers" that stay the same...

Does manual mode help if your Phantom goes haywire

My choice is to fly manual and have a GPS tracker equipped. If I still lose my Phantom I'm going to cry foul play ;) @Monte flying a Phantom in manual mode is a little easier than flying a mini quad. Although it's only using it's gyro it feels a lot more stable than a mini quad. It's all about...

Does anyone else feel lost here?

I really appreciate that you guys stepped up to do the moderation role. I didn't think this place was all that bad, but some organisation and stickying would be great. Good luck new mods! :D

Does manual mode help if your Phantom goes haywire

Have to second this and Pull_ups post. I've frequently read others say on this forum that they'd never try manual mode, as if merely switching their Phantom to manual would cause it to explode or burst in flames. I also saw someone say recently that buying a mini quad to practice with is...
