Thank you mossphotography! So with the extension you can take the exam online now AND again within 6 months, or do you just take the online course at faasafety.gov with it's built-in exam (which I just did) to get the extension?
My Part 107 certification lapsed in March when things were pretty shut down and I guess I just missed the window for the 6-month extension. I've been reading the ASA 2020 Test Prep book to get back up to speed and - maybe I'm reading this wrong - but it appears to say that prerequisites for Part...
The drone is part of the performance. The dancers react to the arrival of the drone as part of their choreography. It does not even need a camera. They just need something that maintains its altitude without a lot of joystick wrestling and looks more "drone-like" than the flying box that they...
It is entirely indoors, which is why I want to make sure I have something that has good vertical stability (e.g. ultrasonic ground sensors or a good inirtial positioning) so that it will be easy for them to maintain a steady position above the stage.
Good points, Gingerbloke. I was considering something like this Hero ducted fan foam airframe, which seems like it would be fairly safe. Also comes with flashy LED display. I just don't know how stable it would be for indoor flight...
Hi,
I have been asked to consult for a modern dance performance in which a UAV makes a brief appearance. I have seen the performance and the drone they are currently using is very unimpressive. It is a small black plastic brick with ducted propellers that has zero stage presence. I'm a P4Pro...
The two books I mentioned have tons of questions/answers, some of which were on the test I took. The asa book gives you 5 online tests that do a pretty good job of simulating the real thing.
I wasted $100 on the DroneStart online course. It was more frustrating than useful and more or less skipped some of the most important things, like reading airspace on sectional charts and decoding TAF and METAR weather reports. I really like the free Remote Pilot 101 videos, which makes me wish...
I passed the Part 107 exam with a 92% (woo hoo!) and registered with FAA - IACRA. I printed out my temporary certificate but I don't recall seeing any information about how I get the actual permanent wallet card. Do they mail it to you automatically or do you have to specifically request it...
The video tutorials I have found for waypoint mode are for GO, rather than GO4. In these tutorials, after you have finished recording your final waypoint you see a pop-up menu that lets you choose between camera-forward (can't remember exact wording) and route following.
When I create a...
I took it yesterday and passed with a 92% score in about 45 minutes.
My main study resources were two books: ASA's Test Prep 2018, and the Gleim Remote Pilot FAA Knowledge Test Prep, along with the free online practice tests that come with them.
I wasted $100 on the Drone Start online course...
I bought the Airman Knowledge Testing Supplement for Sport Pilot, Recreational Pilot and Private Pilot that's published by the FAA. Is this the same supplement that is used for reference in the actual Part 107 Knowledge Test? Exact same sectional charts?
