Tower said no more recreational flights within 5 miles

I'm to your east. Haven't flown in 4 weeks due to travel. I'll try to hit up the Yeager tower next week to see what I get. They've been great the few times I've had to contact them. Like you said, probably temporary.

Glad to hear it's temporary, neighbor. Airport east or west of you?

    Fly rights

In the US, the FAA says it's legal. Their position is that airspace belongs to them above a reasonable use height limit. 80 ft above any structure is often cited as the end of private air space. It's an older law that has not been challenged in court recently with proliferation of UAVs...

    My personal rant . . .

I came across this a few weeks ago. When several people cautioned him about the safety violations, he replied boasting about how he looked up all relevant regulations and followed them to the letter. He even quoted the law regarding not flying less than one hour before event along with the "up...

Filming on Oahu, Hilo flight restriction

Volcano National Park is aggressively enforcing the existing No Fly rules. Hilo has passed a restriction citing helicopter tourist flights. Oahu passed a law prohibiting take offs and landings from public beaches last year. Don't know about the rest of Oahu though. I had no problems on Maui...

A great pc for editing 4K footage?

The 5k iMac is perfect for editing as long as you boost the RAM and get the best graphics card with max RAM. May I ask why you felt it wasn't up to the task? Software? Just price? Gaming, OTOH, isn't a strength of Mac OS.

    Video 120p

Yes. 4K has 4 times number of pixels than 1080p video. Frame rate is more important for motion and doesn't affect resolution or picture "sharpness." Also, at 120fps you will be watching the resultant video at 1/2 speed slow motion unless you edit in post. Of course, very little reason to do...

    Video 120p

Because you can only do 120 fps in lower quality settings. 4K will always be sharper.

    P4 Crash Repair Examples

I've posted about both of my crashes in earlier threads. I decided to post a quick summary to help others who may be wondering what it costs to get repairs and how to go about it. This is US specific, other areas of the world will likely be different. My first crash was into a tree and...

    Frightening experience

Smile and wave. If you're following the rules, there's no reason to be frightened. That's like all the people in the US who slow down to 15mph under the speed limit when they drive past a cop. Just smile and wave. Thumbs up if that is an acceptable gesture.

    Jerky images poor quality images.

If you are referring to the photos and videos while viewing in the DJIGo app, those are not the full quality files. You have to pull the full quality from the card, either wirelessly or by pulling the card and reading it on tablet or computer. When you pull up a photo in DJIGo, it gives you...

    RTH Height

RTH max is always set in meters in the app. It doesn't matter if you change preferences to Imperial measurements. It remains specified in meters. And yes, if you set max height to 400 feet, it will not ascend above that for RTH. I'm not sure if you set max height at 400 feet if it will let...
