    Launching from a pontoon boat

I did some shots with dolphin watching and kayaking trips. One was a boat for 100 people, the other one bit smaller like for 20. What I learned was that in the initial 10 secs. when Phantom powers up you want to avoid vibration (so boats engines off!) and too much waves. Choose a calm day if...

    ESC problems

Well, I trust handmade quality over Industry quality, I trust my own soldering points more than a board soldered by a soldering wave machine... But in the end you are right, only if it is done the right way its better than the manufactured part. If not its a risk.

    ESC problems

Hi to all! After the winterbreak my Vision2 plus had a problem with one motor. After starting it tried to accelerate the prop from zero but failed, tried again, failed etc. Without prop it seemed to run as normal. I looked around and saw many phantoms doing similar things , only some whilst on...

    GPS issues with Phantom

Compass calibration shoud be done ideally outside on a leveled surface, where you can be absolutely sure there is no iron close by and no radiation. We know the compass is very sensitive to these things... If you get same strange vertical results I would contact the reseller.

    GPS issues with Phantom

Please all of you with gps problems also check lithium backup battery on gps board. Should read around 3V ideally, if not replace it. (Needs soldering tools). Mine was empty, not to say it was (how do you say this correctly in english?) deep uncharged and did what some of the lithiums do then...

    Improved GPS reception?

Sure, but in our case RF can only cause dropouts in communication between the modules, means bit words get invalid or unreadable. No way it influences sat signal reception. (Unless its not infusing vcc from gps module which would lower SNR of course) Anyway, testing is always better than too...

    Improved GPS reception?

I cannot understand the way the shielding is done inside the phantom and the tutorials. I develop electronic circuits and boards and far as I understand principles of electronic a shield always has to be grounded to work properly. There is already a proper shield on top of the gps which is not...

Can you change the camera lens?

Try the resulution options and they have the second wheel right side of resolution wheel where the symbolic suggests a change between 16:9 and 4:3. My impression is that as the resolution stil remains the same (eg. 1080p) it stays with 16:9 but the wide angle (140degrees?) changes to standard...

    newbie with first scary experiences...

Thats a brilliant idea. The spot is nearby and I know exatcly the position where it happened. Although I have to say that yesterday I saw a lot of videos with phantoms in VRS conditions. But all of them have been descending fast, from higher altitudes. I was in both cases in a hovering state and...

    newbie with first scary experiences...

That gets interresting. Let me describe what happened in the second, nearly crash. I was descending sloowly from a height of about 5m. No wind whatsoever, I watched the video again and again. Then there was a rhytmic movement, left right, left right with a frequency of about one second. While...

    newbie with first scary experiences...

Thanks to all of you for your congributions! Well yes indeed, the twomtimws it happened I was flying with propguards.. I did the advanced calibration because the basic calibrarion was greyed out which I found a bit strange. Wel, I have another flight now and will do this without propguards...

    newbie with first scary experiences...

Hi to all! Nice machine this P2V+. I had my first flights last days and got warm with it. As a Radio/Television engineer I understand most of the tech stuff quite well but this behaviour scared me a bit: After checking gyros and compass values to be in the range, advanced calibrating the compass...
