That is what is supposed to do. When RTH is activated the Phantom will climb to the RTH altitude you set in the setting and then return to the home point.

I tried my Ipad mini 2 on IOS 9 and there was lots of lag, I left my IPAD AIR 2 with IOS 8.4 and have no lag. Not going to update the AIR 2 for a until I hear that there is a fix.

To program waypoints from the ground you can use the flight sim and record your flight there. There is no real editing other than delete a waypoint. Also the HEAD TO does not keep when you save a waypoint. Seems beta tester did not report to DJI or DJI did not listen.
