If you think about the technology that these consumer drones utilize these days it really is amazing. This stuff would be unheard of just 10 years ago so I'm actually quite pleased with how cheap it is to use it

Vps will not work in the dark. Period. It uses a camera to help with positioning and if its dark, well... Also make sure you are calibrating your compass away from metal objects, power lines, WiFi signals, etc...

I know the video transmission is different for the two gimbals however I don't know if that also means the sensors are different.

I think it's overkill personally. The advance and pro already use glonass so that adds to your available satellites too. You should try and see if it helps at all and report back though

I have the 2014 edition that I used to use. Runs the app just fine but there is a little lag in the live video feed. Have the Nvidia Shield now and its awesome.

2.4ghz WiFi "could" give you interference. And the tricky part about flying in a city is that your phantom could fly in and out of WiFi signals without you knowing

Yeah it's my understanding the new ones needed sanding. May also want to just replace the last old motor for good measure.

I've read that you need to sand off some coating that new motors have on there solder points before soldering them onto the board. Did you do this?
