    Joining the AMA

    The AMA is a joke. I had a trial membership and it expires in 10 days and have already received a reminder email about renewing and I will not do it. I live in the DC area and ALL AMA fields are closed. Also don't try to use their website because it is down!

    It's fun when you are allowed to fly. Just be glad you are not in the DC area. I don't know but I think what is happening to the DC area may be a look into the future to RC flying.

    FAA just increased the no fly zone around DC from 15 miles to 30 miles

    The no fly zone has been around DC for a while but now the FAA is enforcing it and including all RC club fields which they never did before. I attribute this new enforcement directly to the popularity of drones. One can only hope that all these cheap Chinese drones will just be a passing fad...

    Excellent suggestion. OP you really need to take it slow. Buy a Syma X5C or similar and practice a lot with it. You are going into this too fast. I can see you losing your Phantom the first time out.
