What computer are people using for 4K editing?

Well, I'll jump in with my Windows solution-a Toshiba S55T laptop with a Skylake I7, 16GB, 4GB GPU, 500GB SSD, 4K touchscreen. Using Cyberlink Director 14 and Premiere Elements. Plays 4K flawlessly and renders quick. Got it last month for about $1100, about half of what a comparable Apple...

Is anyone buying a P3 from Bestbuy anytime soon?

You know, I noticed the same thing at our BestBuy. They had lots of stock of batteries, accessories etc. after Christmas. I asked one of the sales guys and he said they sold out of the cheapie drones by Christmas, but had sold very few of the P3P's or Solo's. Kind of goes with the observation...

P3P drops from sky into Mississippi flood, flood wins

Thus is fascinating that DJI acknowledges that the computer shuts down the motors if it perceives the voltage is below 3 volts. What genius programmed this? Trying to save a $149 battery by trashing a $1200 UAV? I hope this programmer is no longer at DJI !!!!!

New pilots, just go for it

I just want to second this. What I've seen for the last few months that I've been on here is that for most, this is their first serious UAV. The P3 is phenomenally easy to fly in full P-GPS, so most newbies get a little spoiled and fly in this mode pretty exclusively. Putting together that...

    Update on P-OPTI crash

Hi, I totally understand what you're saying about being scared to fly in non-gps mode, but as you found out, it's really essential. Sooner or later, if you fly enough, you will experience a condition where the UAV is unable to hold its position without input. It could be a compass error, a gps...

Crowdfund hacker to build custom firmware?

You know, coming from the home-built and open-source UAV world, it never ceases to amaze me how many of the folks on DJI's forums think that the rest of the world is like the DJI universe. I can buy dozens of different UAV's that are not locked in any way and fly up to a couple of thousand feet...

    OFFICIAL DJI finalized map

Looking at the No Fly zone for my area, I see that Monterey, CA Airport is listed, but the red no-fly zone only looks like the airport itself, not the 5 mile zone the FAA specifies. Is DJI making their own zones? Mapbox lists a 5 mile no-fly zone, and I thought DJI was using their data.

P3 turned off and fell from the sky

I agree completely. I've flown and owned several other quads and never had to be so careful with voltage for fear of a motor failure. If you wanted to fly down to 3 volts you may damage or decrease lifespan of the battery, but it wouldn't just shut down. I commonly flew to 10-15% without ever...

P3 turned off and fell from the sky

Well, I suspect that for some reason, the main controller is shutting down the flight systems if a cell falls below 3 volts. Maybe it's a hard-coded issue. I'd hate to think that a shut-down is programmed in, no matter how low the voltage.

P3 turned off and fell from the sky

I'm new to DJI, having been a 3DR pilot for the last year or two, but I'm totally baffled by DJI's approach to battery management. I get it that letting the cells get below 3 volts for minutes or hours can shorten life, but I've never heard of substantial damage from a cell going under 3 volts...
