As it turns out I was doing it all wrong, thanks robind for putting me on the right track. Thanks for providing the link in you post as it fixed all of my problems and it now works great again, just like new. Thanks again for your help.

Well, I've un installed everything and re installed and still no joy. Looks like it's a trip to the Apple Store on the weekend and talk to the Apple Tech support. At least I can still fly using my Samsung Note 5.
