I was ready to go for a Galaxy 8.4 S, but am holding out for the S2.
My understanding is it will be changing to a 4:3 aspect screen.
Any thoughts on wide (16:9 or 16:10) vs regular 4:3 for FPV?
The replacement arrived 2 hours ago.
Outer box was crushed.
Fortunately, B&H put padding on 4 of the six sides.
Too bad they didn't pad all 6 sides of the box, as requested and as promised.
Spent 1hr 12m on the phone with customer service. "We've shipped thousands without a problem. There...
Early adopters of relatively expensive technical equipment tend not to abuse it. Look how long desktop computers were around before they started being used for nefarious purposes.
When drones become ubiquitous, and they will, some idiots will misuse them. Laws will follow. Still say 5-10 years.
EE, but thank you for the clarification. The foam dampens the suspended structure, but the plastic clamp limits the camera movement. With the clamp missing, the lens assembly is free to slam into limits. Can't imagine that is good for the system. With the P3 box decoupled from the overpack...
That's slick. Did you have to hold the controller near the sunroof to get good signal strength?
Ideal would be roof mount antennas with a follow-me for solo trips. Outside the city of course.
It's good to know that some have made it through intact. Even if the replacement arrives with the lock loose, I'll feel a lot better if the overbox has cushion all the way round.
No, I sent it back because it had zero isolation from the overpacking carton, and internal components designed to protect a precision gimbal were completely knocked off from their designed protective position.
A couple inches of packing peanuts or bubblewrap on all six sides of the box absorb...
They have one to ship set aside for me. Waiting a week is no biggie.
If it were month(s) my decision may have been different.
Someone obviously thought there was enough reason to have a clamp in the first place.
We'll know within a few months if there is any weakness in the system. Large...
My background is engineering. I did a lot of reliability and failure analysis work over the years. We use the term "walking wounded" for latent defects in products. That's my concern with the unconstrained gimbal assembly. Will it work? Possibly. Will it last? Possibly, but not risking $1250...
Since I can get a quick replacement, going that route. If it was a sale item, would risk keeping it. Some stuff tolerates abuse better than others.
DJI should consider hiring an experienced packaging engineer. That clip design is lacking.
Thanks everyone for the input :)
Chinese quality used to be terrible, got pretty good, now seems to be getting spotty again. Shipping and packing in the US ranges from awesome to dreadful. If I have to pay full price, I expect decent packing. $1250 is a lot to gamble on.
Leaning towards sending it back. Darnit. Perfect flying...
