    107 and revenue

The basic nature of business is that you need to invest time and money before you can hope(!) to start generating revenue. Aerial photography is a competitive business. Expect to be under water for at least a year, longer if you make it a "side business" (where you won't aggressively pursue your...

Aviation VHF Radio Use by UAS pilots

Get the Live ATC app and listen to local air traffic if you want to become familiar. The phraseology is specific, every word counts. As you come to realize how fast paced and dense the communication is, you'll probably realize that your best bet is a phone call to ATC. Well, unless you are an...

Wild horses and Washoe Lake, NV. (P4)

Geeze you guys, those are great! Nevada is my favorite area, having flown over it for many years, and driven some of it more recently. Thanks so much for both videos!!

Killer Whale Devouring Shark Caught on Drone Video

The NY Post article calls them whales but they are orcas, more like giant dolphins.

Problem with new Phantom 3 new firmware 1.10.90

I ran into the crazy camera behavior on 1.10 as well. Autopilot on the iPad worked fine. Others report that Litchi is OK. So this appears to be the combination of the DJI Go app and the firmware.

    Inexpensive 120 watt charger

I have been using the referenced SKYREAT 3-battery charger for a year and a half. My three batteries are in great shape after 100+ cycles on it. It's fast. Mine is an older model with the connector lugs exposed but I believe the newer ones have flip open lug covers.

Quick, cold flight to inspect cruise ship in dry dock. Portland Oregon.

Really nice, thanks for sharing. I agree with the amazement at what man can build. I wouldn't test the river ice by landing just yet though ha ha.

    Flying in fog?

I would worry about moisture, as fog is "little rain". Also as one poster reported, if it is below 40F/5C (ish) and there is visible moisture, you risk icing. Bad news on the rotors especially. Loss of thrust, increased power requirements to keep altitude, and eventually bits can break off and...

    Litchi

But be careful as Go's way of implementing a given feature may be crude or limiting. The big difference is offline planning and setup, as well as automatic start and takeoff.

Phantom 3 and 3D Terrain Modeling

I used the P3A and the Orbit function of Litchi and manually triggered the photographs. You can change the orbit altitude as it is flying without stopping and starting mid-air, so it is possible to get the images at all of the altitude "rings" you need. Here is my first attempt at doing this and...

Totally p###ed of with it all!

As a software developer the refusal to incorporate bug fixes, then complaining about them, it what I get pi##ed about.

P3 serial number when replacing shell

The UAS repair guys (Innovative UAS Tempe AZ) I took my wounded P3A to have a way to move and replace the stickers on the new shell.

Anyone else thinking about staying at 1.3.2 forever?

Everything that's in the old firmware that is. DJI have greatly expanded the capabilities of your quad with software updates.

New to this forum and here is what I have learned.

It kills me how unmanaged forums become the outlet for the frustrations of the stupid. But this forum has been helpful to me.

Phantom 3 and 3D Terrain Modeling

Thank you... Fly thru video only. I installed it and tried it. Looks great! I am struggling with the $10/day since I am doing this for personal education. I saw that non-profit is 1/2 ($5000) but I am non-revenue. I will need to find an alternative for now. Maybe in the future if I go commercial...
