This is usually the case.. People don't post that they've updated with no problems. Imho if you take your time and follow the same routine each time and don't cancel out of the update process it goes very smoothly.
The repair would cost more than the cost of the $139 replacement.. remember there's part cost and labor involved. Trust me the refurbished units for the p4p/a are brand new and wouldn't even know the difference from a boxed craft or a replacement .
If this happened like you said it did please send the craft in to support and it should be covered under warranty. If you have any issues please PM case number and I will see what I can do.
regarding the N/A on height and data, this is normal if the craft hasn't moved. Once you get a valid home lock and take of an a hover these should update. If not then that's time to worry. If they show sometimes that probably from a gps drift before 3d lock.
