What did you learn after your first day flying?

Just let it get back to room temperature. In my experience, 30-45 minutes for me. I typically give it an hour. It sucks when all you really want to do is charge it back up and get back out there!! Fortunately, my wife just picked me up a second battery for valentine's day, so now the first...

Are you a "good" drone pilot?

I use my phantom to shave. And I'm not talking about my face.

Are you a "good" drone pilot?

The same way you get to Carnegie Hall - practice, practice, practice! Many different people will offer many different types of advice. Preparing for loss of compass and GPS signal can be as simple as learning to fly proficiently in ATTI mode.

    P3s aftermarket battery

Please let us know :-). Personally, I will not fly a non-oem battery. Sent from my iPhone using PhantomPilots mobile app

    iPhone battery drain

I use a 6+ as well, and seem to lose 15-20% per flight.

    iPhone battery drain

That is actually rather shocking. In theory, the purpose of hardware decoding is to allow the built in chips designed for decoding this type of information to do the work. This is typically very efficient and provides savings in battery life and system performance. Disabling hardware decoding...

Questions before first long range flight

    1. You should lose video before control. 2. Hopefully nothing, but possibly weak video signal. When you see that, either raise altitude or wait for a few seconds to see if the channel re-adjusts. 3. Yes, you can still fly by GPS map providing you are still in P-GPS mode. 4. First long range...

    GUI Version of DatConverter

    I recognize that flight :)

Weird flight... Could use some advice

I appreciate the feedback Ian. The analysis from the .dat and .txt files do not show any abnormal compass readings during the event. I have re-calibrated for good measure, but so far both gentlemen that have analyzed the .dat files have suggested a strong wind gust is more likely the culprit...

Weird flight... Could use some advice

Thanks Connor. Definitely was set to follow mode (have never used FPV) - it was pitched pretty far forward with the gimbal adjusted down a bit which is probably why you didn't see the legs.

Weird flight... Could use some advice

Nope - that was follow. Gives you an idea of how pitched the phantom was. If you start at the beginning of this thread you'll see that I had something quite wrong when I initiated the turn-around.

Weird flight... Could use some advice

Video of the flight in question - the issue starts when I turn around and lasts for about 30 seconds. Start at minute 7. Before I get railed, no I did not calibrate the compass next to the snow plow. lol

Weird flight... Could use some advice

I suppose that is possible, but it literally stopped yelling "ATTI Mode, ATTI mode, ATTI mode" through my iPhone speaker the moment I toggled the switch to F.

Weird flight... Could use some advice

Absolutely Bud. I saw "Compass Error, switch to ATTI mode" flashing across my display. That is what caused my brief panic... I know how fatal the compass errors can be. I corrected the horizon through FPV and then went to switch to ATTI. To note, I didn't successfully switch to ATTI - I...

Weird flight... Could use some advice

Thanks Bud. That is indeed the heart of my concern. Would you like me to send you the link to the .txt file as well? Not sure if that would assist or not. I appreciate the help from everyone!
