Any other pilots carry a weapon?

Yep – “When seconds count the cops are only minutes away”. I think all of us from time to time tend to make light of the fact that we carry a gun. I know I’m guilty of it. But I also hope that all of us recognize that it is a deadly serious business. When the SHTF there is nothing at all...

Any other pilots carry a weapon?

I have been licensed to carry for many years now and have a weapon on me everywhere I go unless it is prohibited by law or posted by a property owner. I have also invested in ongoing training against the day I may actually have to defend myself, friends or family from some knot head. I carry...

**UPDATE**Beginning to get frustrated with DJI customer support

Here is a positive story for you. Last Tuesday my P3P came home after a flight sporting a stress crack. I emailed DJI late that night to report the problem. By Wednesday afternoon I had a RMA and had sent her off for repair. Today I was notified that repairs were complete and she was on the...

    Big Brother Watching?

Maybe somewhere, but not where I was flying.

    Big Brother Watching?

Well guys, I seem to have come off in a way that wasn’t intended. Perhaps a poor choice of words and a dry sense of humor? I’m not paranoid but it does sort of pique your curiosity when something like that happens. I’m sure that if I had actually been doing something wrong there would have...

    Big Brother Watching?

Right you are - RTH set at 200' so I was really trying to avoid setting that off.

    Big Brother Watching?

I had an interesting experience today. I live pretty close to Lake Mead which is a National Recreation Area. Today I was flying close to there from an area I know to be a couple of miles from the boundary line to the park. While flying I heard the sounds of a helicopter behind me and I turned...

    Firmware Updates.

In DJI Go, with the RC and the Phantom both connected, look in the upper right hand corner of the Go app for three dots (...). Select that and it will bring up the General Settings menu. At the very bottom you will see the "About" selection. Select that and it will show you the current...

    Taco RC

I have the four filter MC version set and the quality is very good. Mine did not arrive with any fingerprints and they have been easy to clean in any event. Come in a nice zippered case too. Can't speak about the non-coated filters because I haven't seen them.

    Firmware Updates.

The Go app, the aircraft and the RC all have their own distinct software. You update the aircraft by downloading the latest firmware update from the DJI website and unzipping it onto a SD card. Insert the card into the aircraft and it will update when you power up. The battery is also updated...

FAA Drone Decals Controller Stability Bracket - Not Impressed

I concur with mindtrick - had mine about a month and it is rock solid. I agree that the swivel doesn't handle the weight of an iPad Air too well so I made a "kickstand" out of a piece of wire coat hanger. Just figure the length you need according to the angle you want to maintain - weight of...

    Distance before drone disconnects

Getting back to the OP's question, if he indeed has a clear line of sight and he has his antennas properly pointed in the direction of the quad, then starting to lose signal at less than 2000 feet is pretty anemic. Question is, what is making it happen?

    New Battery and V 1.8.80

You need to have the SD card with the latest .bin file in the Phantom for it to upgrade.

RC needs upgrade all the time

Always worth a try - thanks.

RC needs upgrade all the time

I did that at least four times when I was having the problem (At the direction of DJI). Also reinstalled the R/C firmware several times and it didn't solve anything.
