I fly over the ocean pretty much 90% of the time my bird is in the air...no floaters...although friend with a solo has floating skids and and our inspire buddy has a parachute...so he can i dunno watch it for a few seconds before it sinks? Expendable assets these phantoms are.
The only issue with this would be the gimbal lock/lens cover is ever so slightly loose without a Polar Pros filter on the cam...I have to keep it all together or things quit working as intended.
Until taking these photos I forgot I lightened the bird a bit by swapping the zenmuse base to carbon fiber piece. I'll include the original plastic base
Yes. It was and is extremely upsetting. I am actually selling my P3 directly as a result of that experience. I did successfully have the charge dropped before trial; but that required sitting down with my attorney, definitely not free. I'm not good with police. It will be a miracle if I get...

But seriously the more I ponder this the more I want to build a 250 and fly it on private property rather than use the Phantom for a "dear cops, please find me and start a conversation"...
In case anyone has been curious, I had my court date come and go last week with no charges filed by the Long Beach City Prosecutor (Doug Haubert)'s office for Disturbing the Peace (M) allegedly created by prop noise from the operation of a Phantom 3 over a public beach (perfectly legal use case...
Cool video John. I was flying over Crescent Bay and Divers Cove on Christmas. My family owns property on the bluffs of both and I am delighted to see drones flying around. I know the limits of their FOV. Most people who have a problem with drones incorrectly assume they have telephoto zoom...
I'm in long beach. Local laws say it's ok it fly when the sun is up. However, I have a pending case for disturbing the peace due to prop noise...I honestly don't know if the charge will be filed by the prosecutor or not yet. It really depends on what you're flying around. Not everyone is a...
