I can report that first commercial flight with my case went well. Case fits the RC with the booster and phone clamp on, Quad with props off, all 4 props, spare battery, and charger all in the case pretty comfortably. Will post completed pictures at some point. (case link...
Sure, still have to add a slot for the battery. Right now I am using it without one of the layers of foam (one of the non pluckable layers). This means the landing skids of the copter are resting on the hard plastic of the case. I would like to come up with a protective covering for the motors...

It looks like it should work well for carry on and it seems the drone, controller and spare battery will fit. It came with 3 layers of foam and only the top one is pluckable which seems to be a pain since you at least need to cut...
Anybody had any luck carrying the smaller one (External dimensions (L x W x H): 22 1/2 " x 16 1/2" x 8 1/2") on as a carry on item? Appears to be slightly larger than Delta's requirements 22" x 14" x 9"
