    First crash(ish)

The left stick down only cuts the motors when when the bird is on the ground. Both sticks down and in is the CSC you were going for. That sounds like a flight that'd make me soil myself. Glad it wasn't worse

    Lens filter

my buddy likes his snake river filters. A polarizer is another filter. in a nutshell, it makes the sky bluer, and it can kill reflections in water, but using it effectively is a little complicated because (and I won't get into too much detail why, wiki it,) but they cancel out all the light...

    Lens filter

Yes filters are in general made to help you make better pics, and they will protect the lens. for photography and film there are a lot of filters to allow more creativity like filters to enhance colors in the sunset, but the main thing in terms of the phantom are ND, or Neutral Density filters...

    DJI Go crashes everytime

If the only thing that changed is the app update it sounds like you're describing a bug. Did you try explaining to your wife that putting a similar copter together would cost way more than the phantom and that she should feel lucky the only peripheral you have to have is a tablet for a monitor...

    First buy options!

I learned on the x5 too. the phantom feels like flying a dump truck compared to the Syma. A $1000 dump truck that could fly away and never come back at any moment. But in an awesome way, I love it.

    Drone and Airplane close call!

Whereas I agree a UAV doesn't belong anywhere near a commercial aircraft, isn't it a little alarmist to title the thread "Close call" when in reality it was either a radio call warning of potential trouble or worst case scenario a possible close call from the aircraft that then warned you?

    First buy options!

I think Phantom 3 Advanced would be a great option. Identical to the Pro save for the higher resolution and the stronger battery charger. With any phantom 2 you'll have to install so many bells and whistles to equal the capabilities of a P3A you'll almost certainly spend more more. On the flip...

    First buy options!

I just went through this whole process myself. I got the P3P but I was unsure about the camera quality vs gopro. (The camera on the P3P is fine, btw, but really needs an ND filter) I got the P3P mainly because it has lightbridge built in and cost less than lightbridge alone this time last year...

    WARNING for GO App

So the Pilot app is now called Go? Thanks for that warning

    Perseid meteor shower

ISO is another way to express sensitivity to light. In full sun you'll be at 100, as light available decreases the ISO goes up to get the same exposure. You're other setting is shutter speed, expressed as the denominator part of "fraction of a second" so 1000 = 1/1000 second (or the shutter will...

Opti vs Atti mode...I am planning to practice Atti. ¿suggestions?

The instant you go to atti the phantom is subject to the wind, and will start drifting. Altitude is maintained pretty well because obviously the wind just goes N, S, E, and W. I'd advise keeping it low and not learning atti in wind more than 5-7 mph, do figure 8's in open space. Or buy a lil guy...

    I'm upgrading to a Phantom 3 standard

I kind of agree. One big draw to the P3 is a whole drone for the same price as lightbridge last year.

    Shutting down the motors mid-air

I know this may be a ridiculous question but if I pull down on the throttle all the way for 3 seconds while I'm flying will it completely power down the motors on my P3P?
