The 5.4mm lens weight is negligible, although filters would add weight. I know it's expensive! I personally think you'd be mad to spend that on a fix but it's still a legitimate and probably the best fix so it deserves a mention.

Now you say it, it seems like the hard case won't accommodate the phone clip although they have clearly provisioned space for the wifi repeater. Strange! The soft case/backpack has very similar cut-outs to mine. That does fit the phone clip, although I had to move it from the side of the metal...

You're right in saying the A8 unit does NOT have GPS capability. It only does LBS positioning, which can be exceptionally inaccurate.

I can confirm this works perfectly, after renaming the firmware to firmware.bin. My camera produces a DNG file which opens in the latest Adobe Camera Raw. Brilliant.
