False accusations of voyeurism, from a cop caught shinning my drone with laser !

I want my 15 minutes back for reading this post.

    Drone Insurance

Why would it not cover mechanical failure? So just accidental, and they are deferring to the manufacturer for mechanical? So, if a prop comes off at 300 feet because of (pick your reason) and the bird goes down...they would not cover that, vs. if I accidentally flew it into a wood chipper? I...

Flying in open water tomorrow - locking home point to controller?

Heading out about 40+ miles offshore on a guys fishing trip. I want to get some nice orbit shots, and maybe some follow me, of buddy's new boat. I'm not familiar with a moving home point though...how do I fix this to the controller location in the event I need to engage RTH?

    Flying Over Water - Questions

I've heard those don't work so well, nor would it support the weight of a sinking Phantom. I'm looking for a solutions as well as I'll be taking mine out in open water

    New Amazon Fire 4K & P3P video?

So it looks like Amazon has just released the first reasonably priced 4K streaming media player with the new $99 Fire . What I'm trying to get my head around is whether this is any benefit to us P3P owners that shoot in 4K, since I'm not familiar with the Fire. Any way to attached storage...

Catastrophic crash tonight - Phantom 3 Pro destroyed!!

I'm curious on the take of those doing it longer than I have. Can we define hand tightening? I go totally tool-less, but spin the prop on until it stops, then hold the motor with my fingers, and give it an extra snug. Is that too much? What are you guys doing?

Catastrophic crash tonight - Phantom 3 Pro destroyed!!

CSC was ruled out based on stick inputs...I was saying ESC (not CSC) or motor failure. There was drag on the motor post-crash. So, not sure if it was a result of impact or mechanical failure pre-crash. As a side note. That was TWO P3's ago. The replacement unit I received DID have a compass...

Catastrophic crash tonight - Phantom 3 Pro destroyed!!

I'm no DJI engineer, but I do know those props were on good and snug. The consensus was a rare ESC or motor failure that spun the prop off.

Catastrophic crash tonight - Phantom 3 Pro destroyed!!

There was nothing user error about this. But, like you said, you didn't read the post.

    Storing P3 vertically?

My gut tells me your engineer friend is probably right. Gravity just doesn't seem to favor the design in anything but it's natural horizontal position. Maybe someone needs to come up with a 4 corner gimbal clamp that puts zero stress on the rubber dampers and locks the whole thing down for...

    Storing P3 vertically?

Yeah, I've seen those, but they seem to never really immobilize the whole gimbal assembly, but rather just one corner

    Storing P3 vertically?

LOL...sorry. I can tend to do that with overthinking. And thats probably what this is. I guess I'd feel better if the entire gimbal was able to be locked down from any movement during transport (and maybe there is a way?)

    Updates from InterDrone

Was thinking the exact same thing. My first P3 had an ESC/single motor failure and death spiraled end over end so quickly to it's demise, I can't imagine how that could have been compensated for. Love the theoretical idea of mid-air fail safes though...hope they can nail this stuff

Guy smashes Phantom 3 due to bad customer service

All of that...he could have at least put the claw of the hammer through the LiPO for us!
