Re "Thomas's" comments above - I'd like to also hear experiences from others. I always start off with Go then swap to Litchi and sometimes swap back again. On the odd occasion Litchi has frozen and I'm wondering whether its because I started off with Go then switched over.

Agree with "stefan350".above. It is more than adequate to transport your P4 and is quite small. It is really much more robust than it looks. If you want to backpack or have something a bit more professional looking then there are plenty of options and a lot of discussion on this forum.

For a P4 you leave the RC in P mode. If you want to quickly exit a mission then switch to S mode

I thought I read somewhere on a forum that the battery won't auto discharge if left in the drone. Can someone confirm if this is right please

It will finish going to all the waypoints even if it is out of range of the remote controller (provided of course there is enough battery)

DJI GO 2.8.0 for iOS has just been released. Doesn't look much for Phantoms other than maybe some improvements for power consumption.

Turn off obstacle avoidance in "P" mode and it will go a lot faster but remember to be careful of what's in front of you!!!

One thing that most birds can't compete with is the vertical climb rate of the Phantom. I've had 2 instances where birds (magpies and crows) have attacked and I just give her full stick up and then got out of their space. Going down towards the ground continues to give them the upper hand to attack.

Suggest you get the Litchie app and you will be able to fly there and back even if you are out of range of the RC. Just need to be sure you have battery capacity to do the return flight.
