    Speed (MPH) question

It was very windy here in Ireland today, so my P3 Pro and I went for a spin, just to exceed 100 kph. Beat upwind at low altitude for ten minutes to gain 300 metres from home, then up to 80m, and full tilt homewards in Atti mode 67 mph or 108 kph

    Compass off a few degrees

Have you tried an IMU calibration beforehand?

    Not once but twice.

I have a Phantom 3 Pro that had serious cracking round the motor mounts. I repaired it with Plast-aid. I already had bought a new lower shell just in case, but the Plast-aid did a really good repair, it stinks and makes a horrible mess if you're not careful, but it's really very strong. It's...

    Litchi shut down mid mission.

I've had a Litchi mission stop at one of the waypoints. With 20-20 hindsight, I think it did not upload correctly (the mission usually takes maybe 5 seconds to upload, and this time it seemed to be quicker) it set off OK (auto take off), but got to (or near to) a waypoint and just hovered...

Just wow, skilled flying and catching!

Phantom legs are great 'handles'. I hand catch my Mavic too, but on a difficulty scale, I'd say it's multiples more fraught, and I would wear welding gloves for this sort of catch and be reasonably certain of failure... I'd be throwing up on a yacht in any case, despite my 10 years in the the...

    First MA2 Video

Good job, maybe lower the Phantom owners jealousy levels by posting on the Mavic forum? Man's failed endeavours have a special place in my heart too, here in Ireland it's usually castles...

HOW TO: Measure the wind speed during flight

On a P3, just switch on atti mode, and see what speed she does in a hover.

    DJI Yikes

If you really need an American drone, try Skydio. I'm afraid from $10 up to $4000 the Chinese (and DJI in particular) have the market cornered. Autel Evo2 is a good drone, but only American offices, made in China. Skydio is a 1 trick pony, but really good at it..

    DJI in Trouble?

I believe that leaves you with Skydio as your only viable option? I don't know but I'd imagine they use Chinese components.. (Assembled or made in the USA?) As an European, I'd prefer to buy European, but I don't want a Parrot, I want a DJI..

Musings of a P3 Pro owner

I’ve had my drone for over four years, and it has covered over 450 km, it’s usage varying between frantic to complete disuse for a year, then back to life after a recent lower shell stress crack repair (I removed the top shell and used Plast-aid ‘puddled’ into the cracks). Pun intended, it’s...
