Great to meet you Jeff! Sorry you have the compass disease. I'm pretty irritated with it, and am hoping that the Drunken Sparrow clan can get this sorted.
(even the 80% fixed that's being reported doesn't sit will with me)
One of the keys to an aerial photography platform stability, and I...
my process is:
shoot 3 passes at tilts, plus 2 nadir shots (I take an extra)
convert raw in Lightroom, address large image issues (props in frame, etc.)
color correct
Auto pano giga for stitching
pano tour pro to then create a full 3d panorama, export to HTML, flash, etc.
congrats, sir.
For months I was a "guest", trying to learn as much as I could about our birds.
Many times your wise sideways head has edified and provided needed laughs. Here's to your next 1000 flights and posts.
yeah, that's what I think as well. It is quite severe here in Northern California. Jeff, if you want to meet somewhere we can compare a straight stick flight path. I'm pretty convinced what you are fighting is the "drunken sparrow"!
I've flown many times in 100 plus temps with no noticeable differences.
The auto settings don't produce the best results. For bright sun I use 100 ISO, white balance set to sun.
Again, this is separate from the known severe j-hook issue in our area? When you push forward on the right stick it steadily heads left in a straight line?
Here's one from last week that I thought was interesting:
Folsom Lake at sunset (the low water makes it look like a lake on mars) 23 images at 250 ft.
I know we all are adept at the compass dance - anyone know a good rain dance? :)
hi jeff,
I live in roseville as well, and we happen to be in an area of significant compass declination. As I got better at flying I started to notice the "j-hook" as well. you'll notice that it will hook in the opposite direction when you pull back and let go.
