B&H sells a 6 pin cable which I accidentally ordered, and then realized I needed the 8 pin. I'm sure this is a standard cable part if I knew the name / part number. They sell a full kit of cables that includes it, but it's $24?!?
This is for the original Phantom with Zenmuse and upgrade board...
Re: What's the first accessory would you recommend a person
I'm amazed nobody else mentioned this...

This has been my favorite mod (and I have the ZenMuse, FlyTrex for telemetry, a timed beeper so I can 'echo-locate' the thing if I lose...
Just be careful with the P2 props. They are very thin and brittle compared to the P1 props and break easily. I had a simple flip-over on take-off which wouldn't have left a scratch on the P1 props, but destroyed 3 of 4 P2 props. Also, the P2 props don't fit (installed) in the GoProfessional...
Also, I spoke with DJI. If you have the upgrade board, the 1.8 firmware is not yet available. It's being handled out of Hong Kong and they're waiting for the firmware update to hit Naza. My newly installed knob is EXACTLY what the doctor ordered, so I'm happy now.
Of course! It'll work on any of them. Just clip off the white connector and solder it to an ESC power connection on the mainboard. Takes about 2 minutes once the case is open. It uses Velcro to attach to the quad, so you just stick it to the body on the front of the quad. Then you always...
Yes, Home Lock is the best way to go IMO. Course Lock will not perform the same if you've moved around much. I do the same thing. Home Lock, pull back towards me, if I don't feel like it's working properly, I switch my GPS/ATTI/FS to Failsafe, wait about 30 seconds, then shut the remote off...
I don't have an external gimbal controller. I didn't like the messiness of the PMU / etc so I installed the upgrade board. Nice and clean and all works great. But to upgrade the gimbal I use the NAZA v2 software as shown in my screenshot. Wonder how I get later than 1.4?
And to clarify, anywhere I am in the air, I can quickly move the knob back to the ~50% top center marking and return the camera to a perfect forward facing position. No more guessing at where it is while flying.
Well - fixed mine with a little bit of a non-conventional method, but it works great!
I ordered a 5k Ohm potentiometer from Mouser (P/N: 72-P16NP-5K) - as I liked the look of the knob, and I like how smoothly and controllably it turns. Great quality (not Radio Shack cheap, but nicer product)...
