Today I received my $9.57 plastic antenna booster. Best $10 mod. It play like a charm. The range gain was obvious and also the FPV. It also has its charm and go in the back pack perfectly. I even don't plan and don't feel the necessity to remove it. Highly recommended!

Which brand/model did you get? I just got a BestMaple copper from Amazon: had good ratings. Have yet to try it. Too many obligations the last few days. I find the more toys I buy, the harder I have to work to pay for them. ;)

These are the standard windsurfer antenna boosters. There are many sources on eBay.

I'm new to this antenna Booster thing. What are the benefits? Long range in terms of light bridge video feed?

Yes they improve the range of stock antenna.

I have to give a comment to those pilots out there ho is spending alots of money in boosters and other things just to gain range. I'm talking out of experience about spending so much money on something you can make your self at home. I have the P3P original without any attachments on the rc. Ialso have the p3s and that bird cost me lots of time and frustrations ,to try to gain the maximum range. Dba mod didn't make me satisfied! Argtec antenna range booster bla bla bla from ebay didn't make satisfied .I tried everything what you guys came up with. So I bought my self P3P and with no problems at all I got easly over 5000m in distance. With a simple postcard rapt with aluminium foil and attached behinde the antennas on RC A smal piece of tape so it doesn't fall of or something and wupsi range booster and it works. Try it out and let me know if I'm totally lost my mind. Cheers

Will doing this mod increase light bridge too? For me, the p3p the video feed gets really bad about 500 feet and out

If you only get good video to 500 feet there is something else wrong which should be addressed before you worry about windsurfers.

Confirm that your antennae are positioned correctly, with the flat sides facing the quad. Make sure that there are no obstructions between the RC and the quad - not even small trees or shrubs. Are you flying in an area where there may be lots of other radio interference?

The windsurfers will make a good signal better by 'focussing' it more, but it can't make the signal penetrate trees or any other interference.

Do you know the exact difference in distance with the booster on? Mine has increased the range by about 500 feet but I've heard people getting much more out of it.

That is difficult to gauge. I do a lot of long range flying, and it is mostly my battery and the weather which determine how far I go, not the signal strength.

I got at least 40% more range. I went from 2 1/2 miles to 3 1/2 miles. I turned around at 3.5 miles because of battery low. Might have gone more.

very informative - thank you. So getting one of those plastic antenna boosters seems it CAN be somewhat beneficial. Gonna give it a try.

I use a similar antenna. Did a flight out to 2.5km, signal remained full the entire time. Both control and video. Cheap, easy, effective mod.

So I bought the plastic antenna. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but the feed still seems to cut out, or is this a result of something else.

As stated before, with the windsurfers you really have to be sure to aim the signal directly to the AC to get the best results.

I did that, but of course there was probably trees some type of minor interference with power lines or something.
